This provision is good
The childminder is very effective in working in partnership with other settings that children attend. She is proactive when she encounters any difficulties. This committed approach helps to ensure that useful information is shared to support children's learning and development. The childminder carefully follows her risk assessments to ensure that children's safety is consistently promoted on her premises. The childminder is very enthusiastic in her interactions with children and makes play enjoyable. As a result, children thoroughly enjoy themselves and want to engage in the activities on offer. Children make good progress in developing their independence. They have high levels of confidence in attempting and managing tasks. The childminder has consistent routines and is very encouraging with children to support them to do things for themselves.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
On occasion, the childminder does not give children enough time to think and respond to comments and questions to further support their thinking skills. The childminder does not always provide focused support to help children to develop their vocabulary, particularly the correct pronunciation of words.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector checked evidence of the suitability of adults living on the premises. She looked at relevant documentation, such as evidence of training. The inspector discussed the procedures for evaluation and the priorities for improvement with the childminder. The inspector took account of the views of parents and carers provided through written feedback.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good understanding of child protection issues and can describe a variety of possible signs or indicators of abuse and neglect. The childminder gives good consideration to the provision of food and drink to ensure that children's good health is consistently promoted. The childminder undertakes reading and research to keep up to date with changes. This includes reading and acting on information from her Local Authority Early Years team. She has gathered information about the progress check for children aged between two and three years, to enable her to provide a good-quality summary of children's development. This check is shared with the health visitor in order to be able to identify any concerns about children's development. The childminder reflects on children's activities so that she can identify how she can improve them.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Overall, the childminder provides good support for children's learning. She often repeats or revisits things so that she can ensure children are secure in their learning. The childminder effectively adapts activities when she recognises that children are losing interest or struggling to grasp what she is teaching them. The childminder has good partnership with parents. She continually discusses their children's learning and what they need to learn next. She often guides and advises parents with care, learning and development issues. This is something parents state that they value. The childminder continually observes children so that she is aware of what they are capable of. She plans what she is going to help them to learn next and how.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is skilful in promoting children's emotional well-being and helping them to recognise and accept others. Parents comment on how effective the childminder is in helping children to embrace differences. The childminder is committed to developing high levels of trust with the children so that they feel comfortable in sharing any worries. Children have a very strong and friendly relationship with the childminder. They demonstrate that they are happy and secure in the childminder's home. The childminder explains to children about how to keep themselves safe and supports them to behave well.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are making expected progress and develop the skills they need for school. They are independent with their self-care skills. Children are enthusiastic and show pride in their achievements, including their art work. They develop their physical skills as they use scissors, tools for gluing and learn how to hold pencils for writing.
