This provision is good
The childminder successfully assesses children's progress, including completing the two-year-old progress check, and she identifies and reduces any differences in their learning. The childminder provides an effective learning environment for children. For example, good-quality toys and resources are set out for children to make independent choices indoors and outside. Children's safety and security are prioritised. For example, the childminder checks her home and public areas for potential risks and minimises these before children play. Partnership with parents is good. Information is shared to keep parents up to date about their children's care and education. Parents comment on their children's good progress in speaking. The childminder has a good capacity to maintain continuous improvement. She builds on her current childcare knowledge and skills, for example, by attending training, using

online websites, seeking local authority support and working with other colleagues.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
When children first start to attend, the childminder does not consistently gather sufficiently detailed information from parents about their children's abilities, to help her plan for their learning more quickly. The childminder has not developed fully effective partnerships with other professionals, such as at other settings, to share information about children's needs and education.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in the childminder's home and in the garden. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector observed and evaluated an activity with the childminder. The inspector looked at children's records and planning, and discussed the childminder's policies and procedures. The inspector took account of the written views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of local safeguarding procedures. She is fully aware of the correct action to take if she has any concerns about a child in her care. The childminder keeps up to date with changes in legislation to raise her awareness of a wider range of safeguarding issues. The childminder carries out risk assessments of her home to identify and minimise possible hazards to children. Outings are carefully planned to take children's safety and security into account.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The enthusiastic childminder has a good understanding of how young children learn through play. She plans stimulating activities to capture their interest. For example, children spend time highly involved in imaginative play as they dress the dolls and make cups of tea. Children's communication and language development is promoted very well. The childminder provides a running commentary to help children learn words and widen their vocabulary. She provides many activities to encourage children's good early mathematical understanding. For example, they explore colour, number, shape and size as they paint and make marks with different sized brushes. They learn about measurement, for instance, as they weigh ingredients for cooking, and fill and empty containers with sand and water.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children have close relationships with the childminder and they are very happy and at ease in her care. The childminder provides consistent boundaries to help children learn to be kind and considerate towards one another. They respond positively to the childminder's playful interactions, praise and encouragement. The childminder raises children's awareness of the importance of living healthily. For example, they enjoy a variety of healthy snacks and meals, outdoor activities and follow good hygiene routines.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are enthusiastic learners. They make good progress in relation to their starting points. Children develop good physical skills, for example, as they ride scooters and steer a doll's pushchair. Young children build on their independence skills. For example, they feed themselves and begin to dress and undress. Children develop good speaking and listening skills, and are able to follow simple instructions. They are well prepared for the next stage in their learning and eventual move to school.
