p.1

This monitoring visit

 The failure of managers to give sufficient attention to the safe recruitment of staff.  The failure of managers to ensure that staff have the opportunity of regular practice-based supervision.

p.1

This monitoring visit

A monitoring visit was completed on 1 March 2018. This visit found that both compliance notices had not been met. As a result, both compliance notices were re- issued.

p.1

This monitoring visit

In order to evaluate the progress that managers have taken to meet the two compliance notices a further monitoring visit was undertaken on 27 April 2018.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This visit shows that little progress has been made to ensure that the safe recruitment of staff meets regulation. For example, managers have continued to fail to verify the employment histories and references of staff. In addition, managers have not ensure that when staff have previously worked with children or vulnerable adults that they have checked the reason why the employment ended. As a result of this continued failure to meet regulation, Ofsted has once more re-issued this compliance notice. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC441591 2 More positively, the manager has taken action to ensure that staff receive regular supervision. As a result, since the last monitoring visit, staff have received supervision as set out in the home’s statement of purpose. This means that staff have the opportunity to reflect on and develop their practice. Consequently, the manager has met the compliance notice.

This monitoring visit

Eight other requirements made at the last inspection are ongoing and will be reviewed at the next full inspection.
