Children enjoy free-flow access to the extremely well-resourced and stimulating outdoor area. This enables all children, and particularly those who prefer to learn outdoors, to be physically active, learn about nature and engage in excellent activities for investigation and exploration. For example, they use a variety of tools in sand and are fascinated as they mix 'gloop' and sand to see how it changes. Children's self-esteem is promoted very well by the childminder. She praises them regularly and encourages them to persevere at tasks by reminding them what they can already do. The childminder skilfully supports children to understand their emotions and the feelings of others highly successfully. For example, she creatively includes opportunities for children to talk about emotions in highly engaging 'circle-time' activities. Teaching about people in the wider world and celebrating differences is strong; however, children have less opportunity to explore resources that
