This provision is good
The childminder takes children on regular outings in the local community. Children enjoy frequent trips to local parks and play spaces. They attend groups in the area, mixing with other children and adults, building on their social skills. Children are happy and settled in the childminder's care. The childminder comes down to children's level and interacts well with them as they play. She helps children to form secure attachments with her to promote their sense of security and belonging. The childminder develops children's communication and language skills effectively. For example, as she reads stories, she engages them in conversation and introduces and repeats new words. The childminder has developed good relationships with parents. She shares a wealth of information about her service before their child begins in her care. The childminder shares information about their child's development with parents. She keeps parents up

to date with what their child has been doing each day.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently use the information gained from her observations to plan more precisely to maximise children's next steps in learning. The childminder does not always encourage children to take responsibility to tidy up their toys when they have finished playing with them. This results in the play environment sometimes being cluttered and not conducive to children's focused play.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke to children and the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector reviewed the range of activities on offer to children with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as evidence of the suitability of those living on the premises, policies and procedures and training certificates. The inspector took account of the views of parents from questionnaires and feedback.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a clear understanding of the signs and symptoms of abuse. She knows how to report any concerns she may have regarding a child's welfare. The childminder has a positive approach to her work. She recognises the importance of continuing her professional development as a means to continually improve her practice. She completes a range of short courses and webinars and uses the information obtained to improve her provision and children's good progress. Risk assessments are carried out around the home and for outings to ensure that risks are minimised to help keep children safe. The childminder evaluates the service she offers, welcoming the views of parents and children to inform this process. Parents speak highly of her commitment and the caring service she offers to their children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children make good progress and achieve well. The childminder provides children with a range of interesting activities to stimulate their learning and enjoyment. Children enjoy sensory play and show curiosity and fascination as they explore the texture of various cereals in a large plastic container. They squeeze and crush them in their hands and listen intently to the sounds they make. From a young age, children show a keen interest in books. They handle them well and in anticipation begin to turn the pages as they listen to the story told by the childminder. Children enjoy using their imaginations. They pretend to make 'tea' in the play kitchen and share this with the childminder.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children behave well and the childminder is a good role model. They learn to share and take turns. The childminder offers sensitive guidance about how to behave and sets clear and consistent boundaries for children to follow. Children are beginning to show good self- care skills. They use hand wipes appropriately after snacks and show good dexterity as they use a spoon to eat their yogurt. Although the childminder has a very small outdoor play space, she ensures children have regular access to a range of outdoor spaces that are outside of the home to support their good health. They are able to practise their larger physical capabilities as they run, climb and learn how to use large apparatus in safety.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points and clearly enjoy their learning. They show developing independence as they climb carefully onto small chairs while under the watchful eye of the childminder and help put items in the bin when requested to. Their early mathematical skills are developing well as the childminder incorporates counting and shapes into everyday routines and activities. Children enjoy singing and using actions to songs and nursery rhymes. Children are developing skills needed for their future learning and their eventual move on to school.
