This provision is good
The childminder is ambitious and passionate about developing her skills and provision to suit the needs of all children. She provides good-quality care and children progress well in their learning. The quality of teaching is good. The childminder consistently asks children suitable questions to promote their thinking skills and make their own choices during play. She uses a patient and calm tone to help ensure children are relaxed during activities and can freely explore the setting. The childminder has developed close and positive relationships with all children and their families. She supports their individual needs sensitively. The childminder provides a warm, welcoming and stimulating environment for all children to explore. Children are independent when accessing the play areas and are encouraged to 'have a go' with the resources available.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
During the day, the childminder misses opportunities for children to develop concentration skills to promote high-quality learning. Although relationships with parents are good, the childminder does not consistently encourage their contribution towards children's learning and assessment.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback provided. The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has created strong links with local networking groups to extend her knowledge and maintain awareness of changes relevant to childcare. When working with an assistant she supports their practice and encourages their professional development. The childminder has a secure understanding of the possible signs and symptoms of child protection issues, including online safety. She is aware of the reporting procedures in line with the local authority guidance. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a strong focus for inclusion and ensures all children in her care are supported to achieve their full potential. The childminder has excellent links with professional agencies in the local area to ensure children receive additional support when required, leading to continued progress when gaps in development are identified.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children are regularly observed by the childminder, who uses this information to track progress. She is aware of all children's preferred style of learning and their developmental needs. The childminder spends quality time with children and appropriately challenges them during play. The childminder takes children on regular outings to extend their learning opportunities in all areas of development. They often enjoy attending a play gym to enhance their physical skills even further. Children all make progress from their starting points. The childminder works well with her co-childminder to plan next steps in children's learning from day-to day-observations of the children's development needs. Children look back at their own learning by looking at pictures and videos of their prior play.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder promotes positive values within the setting and ensures children have opportunities to become aware of the differences within their community. The childminder works hard to promote boundaries in play with children and challenges any unwanted behaviour well. This supports children's understanding of each other's feelings and developing independence to help with their readiness for school. Children show personal care skills and are encouraged to do things for themselves, such as using the bathroom, wiping their nose and putting on their shoes. They enjoy healthy home-cooked food, discuss the nutritional values and have opportunities to choose their meals from a recipe book.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children enjoy the outdoor area and explore with confidence. They remain engaged in activities that interest them. For example, children spend time rolling balls and spraying water through drainpipes. Further to this, they adapt the activity and spray the house windows and enjoy making patterns with the water. They develop well in various areas of learning. Children show good mathematical skills, such as identifying numbers in their environment. They are confident communicators and use a wide range of vocabulary.
