Babies receive lots of cuddles, which helps them to feel happy and settled. Children have formed close bonds with the childminder. This helps to support their emotional well-being. The childminder provides children with a wide range of resources that quickly capture their curiosity and help them to develop a positive attitude towards learning. Children clearly enjoy the childminder's company and enthusiastically invite her to join their play. The childminder uses self-evaluation well to give her an accurate overview of the service she provides. She seeks and values the opinions of children and parents. This helps her to prioritise improvements and constantly improve outcomes for children. Children behave well. They learn to share, take turns and have good manners. The

childminder gives clear, consistent guidance and gentle reminders about her expectations for their behaviour.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
On occasions, the childminder does not fully support children's independence as she completes some tasks that they could try to do for themselves. The childminder does not always organise group activities well enough to enable young children to be as fully involved in their learning as the older children.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder is ambitious and has high expectations for what children can achieve. She implements a range of policies and procedures to underpin her good practice. The childminder attends relevant training, as well as regularly meeting with other childminders to share ideas and discuss best practice. This helps to refresh her knowledge and understanding, and keep up to date with current guidance and legislation. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a secure knowledge of how to keep children safe. She ensures all areas of her home are maintained to a good standard of safety and cleanliness. The childminder understands the procedures to follow in the event of any concerns about a child in her care. The childminder establishes good relationships with parents from the start. She keeps them very well informed about their child's day, including their progress and achievements.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows the children in her care very well. She plans play activities around their individual interests. The childminder regularly checks their progress to identify and address any gaps in their learning and development. Babies explore their surroundings with ease and confidence. They use their senses to explore paint and investigate a selection of toys that move and make noises. The childminder responds sensitively to the children's voice and talks to them about what they are doing, which helps them to make links between words and actions. Children use their imagination as they pretend to cook and make cups of tea for the childminder. They are focused and show high levels of concentration as they engage in arts and craft activities. Children delight in mixing the paints to make different colours.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder promotes children's health effectively. She provides them with a range of healthy snacks and reminds parents to add fruit instead of sweets to their child's lunch box. Children follow good hygiene routines throughout the day. They have lots of opportunities to play outdoors in the childminder's well-resourced garden. The childminder takes effective steps to ensure children learn about their own safety. She encourages the babies to hold tight as she pushes them in the swing and reminds children not to climb up the slide. Children regularly go for walks with the childminder. They visit the library and attend playgroup sessions. This gives them the opportunity to play and socialise with other children and learn about their community.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children are making good progress. They are gaining the skills that will help to prepare them for the next stage in their learning and their eventual move on to nursery or school. Children develop good skills in listening and understanding and are able to follow simple instructions well. Babies are beginning to learn routines and boundaries. Early literacy skills are emerging. Children enthusiastically join in with favourite songs and rhymes and delight in giving meaning to the marks they make.
