The provision does not meet requirements

 Children’s health and safety are compromised. The premises are not sufficiently maintained or cleaned. Areas used by children are extremely cluttered and hazards, such as cleaning products and toiletries, are easily accessible.  The childminder has insufficient knowledge of the learning and development requirements. She is not confident at planning activities that build on children’s individual learning needs. As a result, some activities are not pitched at the right level.  Assessments of what children know and can do are inaccurate, which provide an inflated overview of children’s achievements.  The childminder has failed to maintain required documents to ensure the safety and well-being of children. She does not keep an accurate record of injuries, such as biting incidents. Furthermore, children’s hours of attendance are not consistently recorded.  The childminder has updated her knowledge of child protection. She understands the

procedures to follow in the event of an allegation. The childminder is also aware of the action to take if she has any concerns about the welfare of a child in her care.  The childminder recognises the importance of partnership working. She welcomes all children and works closely with parents to aid children’s transitions into her home. The childminder also respects home routines, such as sleep times, which provide continuity of care for babies.  The childminder is accurate in her self-evaluation. She is fully aware of what needs to improve and she has asked for support from the local authority. The local authority advisors have recently visited and provided support. However, it is too early to see the impact of this support.

p.1

The provision does not meet requirements

There were no children present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
