This provision is good
The childminder has secure relationships with children. She has a good knowledge of their interests and provides them with an exciting environment to explore. Children settle quickly and enjoy learning. The childminder observes and assesses children's development effectively. She plans good learning opportunities to help progress their learning. Children make consistently good progress in all areas of development. Partnerships with parents are good. The childminder involves parents in their children's learning, for example, she shares their next steps and assessments, and invites parents to make further suggestions on how she can support their children. The childminder reflects on and evaluates her practice and provision successfully. She ensures she provides resources and activities that link to children's interests and attends training to keep her knowledge up to date.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always make the most out of opportunities to challenge and build on children's mathematical knowledge. At times, the childminder does not follow through her expectations for children to tidy toys away to help keep the environment suitable for their play and learning.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector observed the childminder's interactions and activities that she carried out with children. The inspector viewed some written documentation, including policies and procedures, suitability checks and training certificates. The inspector viewed children's development records and tracked their progress from their starting points. The inspector viewed written feedback from children and parents to gain their views of the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good knowledge and understanding of her role and responsibilities to protect children from possible harm. She ensures that her practice is kept up to date and that she is aware of any changes in legislation. For example, she attends training and liaises with other professionals during network meetings. The childminder risk assesses her home effectively and ensures children can access all resources independently. She works closely with other settings that children attend. The childminder shares information with them about children's next steps in learning and considers information given to her when planning for children's individual needs. This helps provide a consistent approach to children's development.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder focuses on children's interests when she plans the activities and resources on offer. She skilfully extends children's play through carefully placed questions and suggestions. For example, during role play, she asked children what they were going to do next and to name the different fruits they were using for their 'cooking'. Role-play resources are always available and children thoroughly enjoy dressing up and using their imaginations. Children have regular opportunities to make marks and be creative. They enjoyed using chalks, pens, glue and scissors to make shapes and confidently explained what they were doing.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder warmly welcomes children into her home where they quickly develop a secure sense of belonging. The childminder provides constant praise and encouragement during children's play. This helps further develop their confidence and self-esteem. Children's behaviour is good. They are exceptionally polite and only need very gentle reminders to share and take turns. Children play very well alongside and with each other. They include each other in their games but also have the confidence to play alone. The childminder promotes children's health and well-being effectively. For example, children enjoy frequent trips to nearby play parks, daily walks in the local area and visits to toddler groups.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children, including those who speak English as an additional language, are making good progress in preparation for moving on to school. They are independent and enjoy completing tasks for themselves. They are able to manage their own personal care needs, have a good knowledge of hygiene procedures and take pride in achieving their desired goals. Older children have a good literacy understanding, for example, they can form letters from their name and sound them out.
