This provision is good
The childminder knows the children in her care well. She provides a homely environment and a relaxed approach to learning. She imaginatively plans high-quality activities that capture children's interest and helps them progress and develop key skills. Overall, partnerships with parents are strong. The childminder effectively keeps parents up to date about their children's progress. They regularly share and exchange information to help promote children's continuity of care and learning. The childminder creates a nurturing environment where children's emotional well-being is promoted well. She has a warm and caring nature, which helps children to feel safe and secure. They develop strong attachments to her and they eagerly involve her in their play. The childminder monitors the progress children are making through regular and precise tracking assessments. This helps her to identify any areas where they may need more
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder has not fully found successful ways to engage parents consistently in her self-evaluation to help identify further areas for improvement. The childminder's professional development plans are not focused enough on raising the quality of teaching to secure even better outcomes for children.

Inspection activities
The inspector had a tour of the premises. The inspector observed the quality of teaching and the impact on children's progress. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children throughout the inspection. The inspector completed a joint observation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector looked at documentation and records, including evidence of the suitability of adults within the home. The inspector took account of parents' comments.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder understands the requirements of the early years foundation stage. She uses a suitable range of policies and procedures to secure her practice. All of the adults living and working in the home are known to Ofsted and are suitable to have contact with children. The childminder is aware of her responsibility to monitor children's progress. She ensures that she identifies any gaps in their learning and development. The childminder completes the progress check for children aged between two and three years and shares this with their parents. This helps to support children's continued development at home. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has recently completed training on child protection. She understands the potential signs and symptoms of abuse and knows what to do if she has any concerns about a child in her care.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder supports children well in their development. She provides a range of activities based on children's interests to help them to make further progress. For example, she uses their interest in building trains to encourage them to count and use numbers as they play. Children's communication and language skills are supported well. For instance, the childminder listens attentively to children and responds to what they say to help develop their attention and listening skills. The childminder uses children's natural curiosity to extend their understanding of the wider world in which they live.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder works closely with parents from the start to understand children's routines, preferences and starting points. This helps children to settle quickly and they feel safe and secure in the childminder's care. Children behave very well and are happy and content with her. The childminder praises children's efforts and achievements and speaks very highly of the children and their abilities. This helps children to develop confidence and to build good levels of self-esteem. Children learn about the importance of healthy lifestyles. They enjoy healthy snacks, have good opportunities to play outdoors and develop good hygiene routines.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress in their learning. Older children learn how to sustain their concentration in activities and they quickly engage in learning. All children take a keen interest in stories the childminder reads. They look at the illustrations in the book and then make sounds like the animal characters. Children develop good communication and language skills. They use positional language to describe if objects are under or on top of a track.
