She plans a varied range of activities that cover all areas of learning to help children make good progress. The childminder has strong relationships with parents. She regularly shares information about children's progress. This helps parents to continue their children's learning at home. Children feel happy and confident in the welcoming environment and the care of the warm and nurturing childminder. The childminder effectively reflects on her practice, including the success of activities. She regularly reviews her service and gains the views of children and parents to identify areas to improve. The childminder effectively manages children's behaviour. The childminder teaches children to respect each other and to express their feelings. Children behave well.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The monitoring of children's progress is not yet rigorous enough to provide the childminder with precise information to maximise children's learning. The childminder has not considered targeting her programme for professional development to help enhance her skills and teaching even further.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed children's activities and had a tour of all areas of the home used by the children. The inspector observed the quality of teaching and the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector looked at children's assessments and the planning documentation. The inspector checked evidence of the suitability of all household members. She also looked at a sample of the childminder's policies and procedures and discussed her self- evaluation process and improvement plans. The inspector took account of parents' written testimonials.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a secure knowledge of all aspects of child protection. She has a clear understanding of the procedures to follow should she have any concerns about a child in her care. The childminder uses her good range of policies, procedures and risk assessments effectively to help keep children safe. The childminder reviews all aspects of her practice well. She effectively gains and uses feedback from older children and parents. The childminder has good relationships with other professionals and settings that children also attend. They share information regularly to complement children's learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder understands how children learn. Overall, she supports all children to make good progress through child-initiated and structured activities. The resources are easily accessible to children and developed to meet their individual interests. The childminder helps keep children absorbed and highly motivated in their learning. For example, children enjoy and explore planting different types of seeds outdoors. High- quality teaching consistently helps children to learn. The childminder encourages children to talk about differences and similarities and helps promote their early interest in number problems. Support for children's mathematical development is good. Children's communication and language skills are fostered well. The childminder has a very good understanding of how she can promote children's language skills. She listens carefully and sensitively repeats their words and extends their communications.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder gathers information from parents as children start to help them settle and to meet their care needs successfully. Children form strong bonds with the childminder who knows them well. Children have good self-esteem and receive regular praise. They are confident to sing and play musical instruments on their own. The childminder takes children to activities outside of the home and prepares them to learn as part of a larger group.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their individual starting points. They are ready for moving on in their education, such as starting pre-school and eventually school. Children's enthusiasm, confidence and high motivation support them well for their future learning. They spend long periods of time engrossed in activities and they explore them fully. For example, children fill pots with compost to plant sunflower seeds and explore the sounds musical instruments make.
