This provision is good
The childminder ensures she keeps parents well informed about their children's achievements and daily activities. Parents comment that they are very happy with the care provided. Children are supported to be physical and to lead a healthy lifestyle. They are involved in regular trips into the community, including visits to local parks and nature walks in the woods. The childminder provides experiences to support children's interests. These help children to make good progress in their development. The childminder creates a safe, secure and inviting environment. This contributes towards children being well protected from harm. Children's behaviour is good. The childminder regularly praises children to help build their confidence and self-esteem.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Other than mandatory training, such as first aid and safeguarding, the childminder has not used a targeted programme of professional development to further enhance the quality of teaching and learning. The childminder does not always focus observations and assessments sharply enough to plan precisely for children's next steps in learning to promote their rapid progress.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed play and learning opportunities for children and undertook a joint observation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held discussions with the childminder and her co-childminder. She looked at relevant documentation, such as children's assessment records, policies and procedures and evidence of qualifications and suitability of household members. The inspector discussed self-evaluation and how the views of parents and children are included to drive improvement. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback provided. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a secure knowledge of the procedures she would use to identify and report any concerns to protect children's welfare. The childminder reflects on her practice well. She takes into account the views of parents and children when deciding what could be improved. This demonstrates that priorities for improvement are targeted to improve the quality of children's learning experiences. The childminder successfully implements a range of policies and procedures which helps to provide a safe and secure environment for the children. She has developed links with the local primary schools which help to prepare children for school and contribute towards continuity in their learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children thoroughly enjoy opportunities to initiate their own play and they do this with confidence. For example, children enjoy digging for treasures in sand. A good range of books is easily accessible and children enjoy listening to stories. Children use their imaginations well as they play with play dough. The childminder demonstrates how to roll and manipulate the dough effectively, helping to support children's early physical skills. Children's learning is extended further as they are encouraged to recognise colours and shapes. Children interact well together and share and take turns during their play. The childminder asks older children questions to promote their thinking skills. Children are valued and respected. They learn about each other's similarities and differences and explore a range of festivals together. This helps children begin to be aware of people from different faiths and cultures. The childminder understands her responsibilities relating to

the progress check for children between the ages of two and three years.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children demonstrate that they feel safe and secure with the childminder and her co- childminder through their play and interactions. There are good settling-in procedures in place to help children feel well supported with their move from home. Children enjoy a variety of homemade meals, helping to promote their good health. During the daily routines, the childminder encourages children to be independent where possible. For example, children confidently wash their hands before meals.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress and are happy, motivated and enthusiastic learners. They develop good-social skills and become confident communicators. Children attend toddler groups with the childminder where they meet and interact with new adults and children and form friendships. These help to prepare them well for the next stage in their learning, including school.
