This provision is good
The childminder is knowledgeable and experienced. She welcomes children into a warm and homely environment where they can participate in a broad range of interesting activities. This, together with the care and commitment of the childminder, helps to raise outcomes for children. The childminder carefully considers the quality of her practice. She takes account of comments from children and parents when setting future development targets. The childminder closely observes children as they play. She accurately assesses their developmental stage and interests. This helps her to plan appropriate next steps in children's learning and to promote their good progress. Children feel safe and secure in the care of the childminder. They have built strong and trusting bonds with her. She acknowledges when they are tired, hungry or need some quiet time and a cuddle. Children's behaviour is good. The childminder encourages children to listen and to have

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the interactions between the childminder and children during activities inside and outdoors and assessed the impact these have on children's learning. The inspector held discussions with the childminder and spoke to the children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector carried out a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector checked evidence of the suitability of the childminder and looked at relevant documentation. The inspector took account of the views of parents from information provided by the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder regularly attends training to ensure that she is knowledgeable of the procedures to follow if she has any concerns about the safety or welfare of a child in her care. She is fully aware of the possible signs and symptoms of abuse. The childminder regularly reviews potential hazards in her home and thoughtfully considers ways to minimise any risks to children. The childminder supervises children very well. She teaches them how to keep themselves safe, for example, when going down the steps to her house. The childminder has developed effective links with other settings that children attend. These help to ensure that children's learning is continuous. Parents are kept informed about the progress that their children are making. They are complimentary about the care and learning opportunities that their children receive.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Overall, teaching is good. The childminder understands the process through which children learn. The childminder interacts enthusiastically with children. She supports children's speaking and listening skills effectively by thoughtfully considering new and innovative ways to support their correct pronunciation. For example, she encourages children to give instructions using technology that only responds with clear messages. The childminder helps children to develop a concept of number as she counts with them the items of food that they have left on their plate. Children are gaining an understanding of the pleasure that can be gained from books. They enjoy anticipating the actions in a familiar story and identify letters that they recognise from their own name. Children confidently recall previous experiences to visitors. For instance, the occasion when they took the childminder out for lunch, ordering and paying for the food themselves.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder works closely with parents to gain information about their children's individual needs and to agree a settling-in procedure to support their emotional well- being. The childminder encourages children to do things for themselves, such as putting on their own shoes to go into the garden. Children are learning how to keep themselves healthy. The childminder reminds them when they need to wash their hands. They understand the need to have a nutritious diet and can talk enthusiastically about the different fruits that they enjoy. Children have lots of opportunities to be physically active. They move energetically to music, hopping, spinning and jumping. In addition, they enjoy going for walks, observing local wildlife and listening to the birds singing.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are making good progress in their learning and development. They are confident, motivated and show enthusiasm and enjoyment in their play. The childminder is a very good role model for children. She is patient, kind and caring. Children are gaining skills that will help them as they move to the next stage in their learning or on to school.
