This provision is good
Children make good progress from the time they start at the setting. They benefit from a broad range of activities planned to meet their individual stages of development. The childminder is welcoming, kind and caring. Children form strong bonds with her and benefit from her interactions. This helps to support children's confidence and well- being. The childminder interacts with children in a positive and enthusiastic manner. She extends their interests and ideas in play and supports their language development through her positive interactions. The childminder has addressed the previous action and recommendations from her last inspection to improve children's learning experiences. For example, the childminder is more focused on children's individual development through observational assessment. Children now have increased opportunities to develop their mathematical and early writing skills. The childminder is a positive role model for children. The childminder helps children to

develop a good understanding of how to behave, including sharing, taking turns and developing respect and consideration for the views and feelings of others.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder misses some opportunities to extend children's wider social skills. The childminder does not engage parents as fully as she could in gathering information about children's initial stages of development, particularly when they first start.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of the childminder's teaching as she engaged in activities with children. They jointly observed children while they engaged in activities. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at a range of play materials, equipment and areas of the home used for childminding. The inspector look at a range of required records, a sample of children's development profiles, policies and procedures and suitability records. The inspector took account of the views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows how to identify any concerns about a child's welfare and how to refer these to the appropriate agencies. She supervises her assistant and ensures he has an appropriate understanding of safeguarding procedures. The childminder minimises any risks to children's safety on and off her premises. For example, she carries out comprehensive risk assessments and provides a safe environment where children are confident to explore with minimal risks. The childminder makes sure she keeps her knowledge up to date and evaluates her practice effectively to help her maintain a good level of service. For example, she seeks the assistance of her local authority to address any weaknesses. Overall, partnerships with parents are effective to ensure good two-way communication on a daily basis. Written and verbal feedback from parents expresses high praise for the service provided and the care and learning
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides effective learning experiences for children and has high expectations of them. She plans challenging and interesting experiences that help to engage children's interest. For example, children are eager to express which activities they want to participate in. They make choices of their own from the wide range of resources on offer. The childminder extends children's learning during activities. For example, she offers children opportunities to count, compare shapes and identify colours. The childminder monitors children's learning effectively and undertakes required assessments. She identifies any gaps in children's development and takes these into account when planning for their next steps in their learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a clean, warm and welcoming setting for children. The childminder encourages children to be physically active. For example, older children are proud to show off their physical skills in learning and do somersaults and cartwheels. Children learn well about the effects of healthy eating. For example, they relate positively to posters on display about healthy food choices and how their bodies work. All children have opportunities for daily outdoor play in the home and in the community.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children develop a good range of skills in preparation for their move to school. For example, their language development is strong, especially with children who are learning English as an additional language when they start in the childminder's care. Children of all ages show a strong interest in early reading and early writing. They learn to use descriptive and mathematical language as they learn to problem solve.
