This provision is good
The childminder regularly observes children and adapts her teaching to their individual learning needs. She closely monitors their progress and swiftly addresses and closes gaps in their learning. All children make good progress from their different starting points. The childminder has good partnerships with other settings and professionals. She shares information about children's next steps in learning to help support children's progress and development. The childminder persistently provides praise and encouragement to help children recognise their achievements. She gives clear expectations for their behaviour and safety and encourages young children to manage their own minor disputes. The childminder continually reviews and reflects on her service. She seeks and values the opinions of colleagues, parents and children to constantly improve outcomes for children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not make the most of all opportunities to challenge and inspire older children to gain early reading and writing skills. The childminder does not consistently challenge children to explore and find out about the natural world.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector had a tour of the premises and reviewed the resources with the childminder. The inspector observed the childminder and children during their activities and discussed her observations with the childminder. The inspector held discussions with the childminder and children throughout the inspection. The inspector looked at a range of documentation, including policies and procedures, risk assessments and the children's learning and assessment records.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder attends regular safeguarding training and has a good knowledge and understanding of the signs that may cause concern about the welfare of a child. She implements and sustains a wide range of policies and procedures that underpins her practice and helps ensure she maintains a safe and secure home. The childminder shares her knowledge with parents and colleagues. She reads relevant literature and attends training opportunities that help to increase her skills. For example, she effectively uses the information gained from training to support children's language development. The childminder builds good relationships with parents to support children's ongoing learning. Parents speak highly of the childminder and are complimentary about the quality of the services she provides.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a secure knowledge of how young children learn. She gets down to the children's level and joins in their play with enthusiasm. The childminder effectively supports children's emerging mathematical skills. For example, they engage in play dough activities, reflect on colours and learn to recognise shapes. The childminder demonstrates good skills in supporting children's communication. She models language clearly and follows their interests to engage them in discussions, for example, about events at home. This results in children repeating and learning new vocabulary on a daily basis. The childminder enhances children's confidence and emotional well-being. For example, children enjoy singing activities and attend groups in the local community.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder gathers information from parents about what their children know and can do when they first start at the setting. Children settle quickly with the childminder and develop strong relationships with her. The childminder listens to children. She regularly asks them what they want to do next and encourages them to make their own decisions. Children are actively encouraged to think about their safety. They learn how to use tools, such as knives, at snack time and during closely supervised activities. Children are developing an awareness of a healthy lifestyle. For instance, they have opportunities for exercise and are learning about managing their own personal hygiene.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are independent learners. For example, they excitedly put on their coats and shoes as they get themselves ready to go outdoors to play. They show good imagination, for instance, as they role play and pretend to be cooking and shopping. Children confidently lead their own play and demonstrate good listening skills. They are acquiring the key skills they need for future learning, such as pre-school or school.
