This provision is good
The childminder has made significant improvements to both the physical environment and her knowledge since her previous inspection. She has been tenacious in tackling weaker areas and has successfully raised the quality of her provision to a good level. The childminder understands about children's fascinations and interests. She provides multiple ways for children to explore and test out their ideas, such as when they play with toy helicopters. Children make good progress in their learning and development. They are highly motivated by their learning. Children have exceptional levels of confidence and self-esteem. They encourage others to join in with their play. Their strong sense of fairness and ability to resolve conflict enables them to play together harmoniously.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently support parents to share what they know their children can already do when they first start. Older children do not consistently have a range of ways to practise their writing skills in their everyday play.

Inspection activities
The inspector talked to children and the childminder during the inspection. The inspector observed children's learning activities and assessed the impact these have on children's development. The inspector looked at a range of required documentation, such as evidence of the suitability of the childminder, her assistant and household members. The inspector read through questionnaires completed by parents and took their feedback into account.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has a good awareness of safeguarding issues. She continually updates her knowledge to remain alert to child protection issues. Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder works effectively with parents to exchange information about children's learning. She shares regular updates to keep them aware of how they can support children's learning at home. The childminder is meticulous in her recruitment, induction and monitoring of her assistant. The childminder and her assistant have an effective programme of training to enhance their good knowledge and skills.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has sharpened her focus on teaching literacy skills. After attending training, she now considers letter names and sounds when supporting children's learning. She sounds out words and children are developing good awareness of words and their meaning. Children play with coloured rice. They carefully spoon this into different sized pots and feed a spoonful to toy dinosaurs. This helps with their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. Children learn about vehicles, animals and buildings. The childminder uses effective questioning to extend on their understanding. She knows when to stand back and allow children to explore.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children are highly sociable, content and show a friendly and cheerful manner. They giggle loudly and share jokes with the people around them, showing a sophisticated sense of humour. Children are acutely aware of their own identities. They have extensive opportunities to learn about themselves and others. They look at photographs of themselves and their peers and identify the differences and similarities between them. Children talk about their wider families and countries where they live. They are eager to learn and approach activities with great enthusiasm. Children talk about being healthy and enjoy exciting activities with the childminder, such as swimming, to promote their physical skills. Children take measures to keep themselves safe and are respectful and cooperative. They show a positive regard for the environment where they play and are keen to help tidy up, for example, sweeping up dried rice that has spilt on the floor.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress and they are particularly advanced in their communication and language skills. They are articulate and expressive and talk with animation about the things that interest them. Children's behaviour is excellent and they show great empathy towards others and the childminder's pets. The childminder's good focus in helping children to become ready for school, leads to them being ready for their next stage in learning.
