This provision is good
The experienced childminder understands how children learn. She monitors their development and supports their play and learning well. Children participate in a range of interesting activities and make good progress, overall. The childminder and her co-childminder work very well together. They routinely share information with each other to enable them to get to know all the children well and form strong bonds. Children feel secure and content. They enjoy their time at the setting. The childminder is committed to the continuous improvement of her setting. She talks with her co-childminder each day to reflect on what has gone well and what needs to be improved or developed further. The childminding provision is organised effectively to ensure that children can access the areas and resources safely. The childminder and her co-childminder complete daily checks of the premises to ensure that children play safely indoors and outside.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently provide enough opportunities for children who speak English as an additional language to use their home language during their play. At times, the childminder does not organise some activities effectively to fully encourage children's speaking and listening skills.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke to children, the childminder and the co-childminder during the inspection. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation, such as evidence of the suitability of the childminder, her co- childminder and the persons living in the household. The inspector took account of written testimonials from parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder understands the requirements of the early years foundation stage. She uses a range of appropriate policies and procedures to underpin her good practice. She ensures that all of the adults living and working in the home are known to Ofsted and are suitable to have contact with children. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good understanding of the possible signs and symptoms of abuse. She knows what to do if she is concerned about the welfare of a child in her care. The childminder ensures she completes mandatory training, such as first aid and child protection. She is proactive in seeking ways to keep up to date with developments in childcare practices. For example, she talks regularly to her co-childminder and receives support from her local authority. The childminder works in partnership with parents. She shares information with them to ensure children's continued learning is supported.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children enjoy access to a wide range of toys and resources in this stimulating and child- centred environment. They have daily access to the large, well-resourced and child- friendly garden area. They build their confidence as they explore and make choices for themselves. The childminder encourages children to be physically active and move their bodies energetically. She plans activities for children which encourage them to dance, wiggle and move to music that they enjoy. They join in enthusiastically, drumming out the rhythm of the music using rods that the childminder provides for this purpose. The childminder provides a wide range of books for children to enjoy. They happily sit and read together with the childminder.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are happy and content in the childminder's care. The childminder is a good role model and provides children with clear and consistent boundaries which support their positive behaviour. She responds quickly to children's care needs and helps them to remain content and comfortable. The childminder provides children with a good range of healthy snacks and meals. Children enjoy these together, helping them to develop their early social skills.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points in learning. They develop a range of skills which prepares them well for school and their future learning. Children are eager to take part in activities. They follow rhythms and instructions, such as making loud, quiet, fast and slow sounds using musical instruments. Children are beginning to recognise the sounds represented by letters of the alphabet.
