This provision is good
The childminder has taken effective steps to address the actions from the last inspection. She has accessed training to update her knowledge and understanding of safeguarding. As a result, she understands the procedures to follow should she have concerns about a child, including those who may be at risk from extreme views or behaviours. The childminder provides interesting activities that capture children's interests well and help to support the good progress in their learning and development. The childminder is kind, caring and friendly. She promotes children's sense of security well. Children are happy and settled, and they form close bonds with the childminder and her family. The childminder engages well with parents. She talks to them about their children's care and learning needs, and uses the information they provide to support her planning. Parents provide positive written feedback about the childminder's service.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not question children as well as she could, to extend opportunities for children to think, answer and solve problems. The childminder does not build fully effective partnerships with other early years settings that children attend, to promote further consistency and continuity in their learning.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder carries out thorough risk assessments of her home to identify and minimise any potential hazards to ensure it is safe for the children. The childminder effectively identifies her strengths and areas of improvement. She attends training and uses her professional relationships with other childminders and her early years adviser to improve her practice and strengthen her skills. The childminder monitors children's learning well to establish the progress they make, and to plan enjoyable activities that help them reach the next stage and to close any gaps in their learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn through play. Children enjoy choosing and listening to their favourite stories, as they point at the pictures and tell the story. Children enjoy imaginative play as they pretend to be the shopkeeper. The childminder skilfully promotes positional language and encourages them to name a range of colours and to count in sequence. She introduces the children to simple calculations to extend their learning well. Children are curious and creative. For example, they search through the craft materials and explore the different resources and stickers available, as they choose what they would like to use for their picture. The childminder provides the children with very good support to learn new skills. For example, children eagerly await instructions on how to master their scissor skills and make patterns.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder promotes children's independence well. She organises her resources successfully to enable children to make choices in their play. Children's behaviour is very good. The childminder is a positive role model and children learn to share and take turns. She regularly provides praise and encouragement as she recognises children's efforts and achievements. This enables children to develop their sense of self-esteem and confidence. The childminder helps children to learn about the importance of healthy lifestyles. She works well in partnership with parents to ensure the food they provide is nutritious and healthy. Children have many opportunities to experience their local community with the childminder. For example, they go out on a daily basis to visit groups and local parks, during which they have plenty of fresh air and exercise.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are motivated and eager to learn. They have an interest in letters and the sounds that these represent. They develop good early writing skills. For example, they have good pencil control and begin to form recognisable letters. Children are confident and develop good levels of concentration. For example, they enjoy handling books and listening to stories. Children are well prepared for the next stage of their learning, including school.
