This provision is good
The childminder provides children with a welcoming, family environment where they can learn and play in safety. Children are happy and settled in the childminder's care. Children make good progress. The childminder focuses strongly on supporting children's speaking, listening and social skills. This helps children to develop those key skills ready for their next stage in learning. The childminder provides children with a good range of engaging activities. She complements her home provision with interesting outings, which children enjoy. For example, they make visits to nature trails to develop their interest in nature. The effective partnership with parents and other early years professionals helps to provide a consistent approach to the continuity of children's care and learning. The childminder demonstrates a positive commitment to improving her professional skills and knowledge by, for example, reflecting on her provision and accessing training.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not provide a wide range of opportunities for children to readily access books to support their interest in early reading further. The childminder does not offer many experiences to extend and build on children's understanding and skills in technology.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

What the setting needs to do to improve further
provide more opportunities for children to access books for themselves to build on their interest in reading and books even further improve opportunities for children to develop their use of and understanding of technology.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and routines indoors. She observed interactions between the childminder and children during play. The inspector viewed the rooms and outdoor area used by children. The inspector had discussions with the childminder, for example, about children's learning. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including children's development records, and checked evidence of the childminder's safeguarding knowledge. The inspector accompanied the childminder as she collected children from nursery.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of child protection issues and the procedures to follow if she has concerns about a child. She undertakes thorough risk assessments to reduce hazards to children effectively. These include all areas of her home and on outings, including the journey to and from nursery and school. She is well qualified and undertakes advanced early years qualifications to help her to raise outcomes for children continually. She undertakes thorough checks of children's progress to help her identify and plan for the next steps in their learning well. She has addressed the recommendations set at the previous inspection. For example, she has improved outdoor play opportunities for children to play and learn in the fresh air.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder develops children's communication and language skills effectively. For example, she responds sensitively to children as they speak and repeats the correct pronunciation of words. She successfully widens children's vocabulary. For example, she talks to them about size and shape as they build towers with construction materials. She provides good opportunities for children to use and extend their imaginations. For example, during their pretend play, she plays alongside children and extends their thinking. She draws their attention to roundabouts and signs on a road map as they play with their toy vehicles.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children behave well and develop good social skills. They learn to share, take turns and build friendships with other children. The childminder uses consistent praise and encouragement throughout activities and enables children to become more independent. For instance, they learn to put on their coats before going outside. Children learn to keep themselves safe, for example, as they practise road safety during their walks to and from nursery with the childminder. They have daily opportunities for fresh air and exercise, which also include playing in the garden and visiting the local park.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress. They gain valuable skills for their future learning and their eventual move to school. They are happy, settled and highly motivated. They learn a wide range of skills. For example, children develop their dexterity and understanding of mathematical shapes and size as they play with shape puzzles. Children eagerly make marks with chalks, and older children successfully use coloured pens and pencils. They develop good language skills and, from a young age, all children are keen to count and develop good mathematical understanding.
