This provision is good
The childminder accurately assesses children's progress. She uses this information well to identify gaps in their development and plans appropriate next steps for their future learning. The childminder is a positive role model. She helps children to behave well and to use good manners. For example, she teaches them the importance of being kind to each other and encourages sharing and taking turns. The childminder promotes children's good health effectively. For instance, she stores and heats up meals provided by parents safely. She discusses healthy lifestyles with children. This helps to build on children's growing understanding of good hygiene and the importance of healthy eating. The childminder uses effective self-evaluation processes to review the quality of her provision and seeks the views of parents. This supports her to identify areas of strength and further development to improve outcomes for children.

Inspection activities
The inspector spoke to the childminder and the children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector observed the childminder's interactions with the children. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including policies and procedures, and children's records. The inspector conducted a tour of the areas that the childminder uses for childminding purposes. The inspector viewed and took into account written feedback from parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of child protection procedures and of what to do if she is worried that a child may be at risk of harm. She further helps to ensure children's safety, for example, by carrying out daily checks in all areas they use, to help prevent accidents. This helps to support children's welfare very well. The childminder is committed to improving her skills and knowledge. For instance, she has attended a course on communication and language. This has led her to consider more-effective ways to encourage and promote younger children's speech and vocabulary skills within her setting.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children enjoy a good level of challenge that is appropriate to their age and stage of development. During play, the childminder asks questions, for example, that encourage children to learn about colours, count and learn new words. She provides good opportunities for children to explore how things work. They spend time learning how to operate a range of pop-up and musical toys. The childminder helps children to explore their imagination in meaningful ways, by enabling children to take part in art, craft and role-play activities. Children enjoy going on imaginary journeys with dolls in the buggy and racing cars along the floor. The childminder promotes positive partnerships with parents. For instance, she asks them to contribute to the ongoing assessment process to encourage consistency in children's learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a stimulating and welcoming environment. Children confidently explore their surroundings. The childminder supports children's physical development well. For instance, they enjoy using the well-resourced garden and visit local parks and play areas, helping them to strengthen their physical skills further. The childminder teaches younger children how to keep safe indoors and outside. She gives them gentle reminders about not walking on the toys so they do not hurt themselves. Children have good opportunities to develop positive attitudes to their own race, culture and faith, and those of others in the wider community. For example, children play a good range of resources that depicts positive images in the learning environment.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress from their starting points. They learn a wide range of skills that prepares them for their next stage of development and the move to nursery or school. Children are active, confident and independent learners. They are eager to join in with activities and have fun throughout the day. For example, children enjoy visits to local playgroups where they socialise with other children. Children also learn early mathematics. They take part in activities and use resources that help them learn about numbers, counting, shapes and sizes.
