This provision is good
Children develop emotional attachments with the childminder. She treats them with warmth and respect. This helps children to develop a strong sense of belonging and self-assurance. Children make good progress from their starting points. The childminder places a sharp focus on children's language development and this encourages children to be confident communicators. The childminder takes the children to visit local community groups. This helps them to socialise with different children and develop their self-confidence. The childminder makes good use of opportunities to continually develop her teaching and practice that ensure good outcomes for children's learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Although partnerships with parents are good, the childminder does not always keep them regularly up to date about their children's progress. Babies do not have a wide variety of opportunities to explore and develop their creative and sensory skills. The childminder has not yet established highly effective links with other settings that children attend.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector checked evidence relating to the suitability of all adults living on the premises and checked the qualifications of the childminder. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector spoke to a parent on the telephone and took into account the views of parents through written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder's home is clean, safe and secure. She undertakes risk assessments to ensure that children are able to play safely. The childminder recognises the possible signs of abuse and knows who to contact should she have any concerns about a child in her care. She understands the importance of keeping her knowledge up to date and in line with current guidelines and legislation. The childminder focuses on identifying areas to improve children's experiences. For example, she evaluated the role-play area and purchased additional resources to enrich children's opportunities for learning. The childminder develops good relationships with parents. They are highly complimentary of the flexible service she provides.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows the children well and uses information from her observations to plan challenging activities. She responds to children's interests and links activities that engage them successfully. The childminder comments on children's actions during their play. This helps them to learn new words and phrases in order to extend their vocabulary. She interacts with children getting down to their eye level to focus their attention. The children delight in sharing their play with the childminder. For example, babies giggle with excitement as they enjoy identifying a variety of animals and the different noises they make. Children's knowledge is extended as the childminder takes them to visit the animals in the local environment.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is a good role model. She speaks calmly to the children. The childminder encourages them to share and take turns. They have consistent boundaries and familiar routines. This helps to support their emotional well-being. For instance, babies initiate story time before they settle down to sleep. Children show that they are comfortable and confident in the childminder's care. Children's good health is promoted effectively. The childminder regularly takes the children to the local park for fresh air and exercise. In addition, she helps children adopt good hygiene routines, such as washing their hands and wiping their faces.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning. They are keen and curious and enjoy exploring the environment. Children are learning to socialise and play alongside each other. Babies are beginning to develop their imaginative play skills. For example, they display a sense of empathy when caring for a doll. Similarly, they are starting to show the same care and concern for each other. Children acquire the skills they need for the next stage in their education.
