Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

There are highly effective arrangements in place to track children's progress. This helps the childminder to ensure children meet their developmental milestones and identify and close any potential gaps in their learning extremely quickly. The childminder acts on children's interests and skilfully adapts teaching to meet children's individual needs. Children extend their communication skills and creativity as they eagerly explain their ideas and discuss imaginary scenarios. Children understand mathematical concepts above those expected of their age. They quickly learn how to use tally charts to see how many eggs they have collected from the hen coop. They competently use their fingers to add and subtract numbers, counting forward or backwards to find the answer.

p.3

Children develop exceptionally close emotional relationships with the childminder and her assistants. Children are very happy and confidently express their views. They articulate their feelings and are extremely polite. The outdoor learning environment provides an exceptional amount of learning opportunities, which helps to extend children's physical skills. For example, tree trunks are skilfully placed to help children master their balancing and jumping skills. This boosts their self-esteem and confidence. Children learn how to keep their bodies healthy through exercise and excellent hygiene routines. For example, they feel their heartbeat and talk about how their heart beats faster after they have been running.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children are very self-assured and exhibit lovely characteristics of humour and playfulness. They are flourishing and are highly successful, enthusiastic learners. They confidently use a wide range of tools to support their early writing and numeracy skills. Children confidently retell stories, using puppets and props as they talk about how the characters feel. Children make excellent progress from their starting points and are extremely well prepared for their move on to nursery or school.
