This provision is good
The childminder has successfully addressed the recommendation raised at the previous inspection. For example, a range of outdoor resources is now readily accessible to children to encourage their imaginative play. The childminder uses information from her observations and assessments of children's development effectively. This helps her to track their progress and identify what children need to learn next, and to assist her in ensuring all children make good progress. Effective partnerships with parents and other professionals support the childminder to meet children's individual needs. She shares information with others to support continuity in children's care and to promote shared learning. Children form close relationships with the childminder, who is attentive and responsive to their individual needs. Children settle quickly and are happy and confident in her care. This helps to promote their positive well-being.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder's programme of professional development is not sufficiently focused on raising her knowledge and skills to develop the quality of her practice to the highest levels. Occasionally, the childminder does not take opportunities to extend children's understanding of numbers and counting as they play, to extend on their already good mathematical skills.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

build on the quality of training and professional development to raise the quality of teaching and learning even further provide more opportunities to extend children's awareness of numbers and counting, to further develop their good mathematical skills.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector observed a planned activity and jointly evaluated this with the childminder. The inspector looked at samples of policies, procedures and children's records. The inspector took into account the views of parents through written feedback. The inspector viewed the areas of the setting used for childminding.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistant have a good understanding of child protection issues and of their responsibility to report any concerns about children's well-being. The childminder effectively monitors the work of her assistant, ensuring, for example, that first-aid and safeguarding training are up to date. The childminder teaches children to recognise hazards for themselves. For example, she reminds children to take extra care when walking near roads. The childminder takes advantage of networking opportunities with other childminders to review her practice and to make changes in her provision for children's welfare. She has established good links with the local nursery and school to support children's continuity in care and learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder understands how children learn through play and exploration. Children take delight in exploring and investigating a good range of tools as they play with modelling sand. For example, toddlers delight in feeling and moving the sand around. The childminder provides a commentary as they play. This helps to develop children's communication and language skills. Children make marks in the sand, helping them to develop their small muscles and early writing skills. The childminder helps children to settle quickly into positive routines that help them feel secure and confident.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder promotes children's emotional well-being effectively and provides good levels of care for children. Children show a close attachment with the childminder. They enjoy relationships that are warm and supportive, gaining in self-confidence as they grow and develop. Children's behaviour is good. This is because the childminder is a good role model and children respond to her. The childminder encourages children to eat healthy food and follow good hygiene routines. The childminder is flexible and responds sensitively to children's care needs. Children benefit from frequent opportunities to play outdoors in a variety of settings, including local parks and woodland. This helps to promote their physical health and well-being.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are making good progress in their learning and are working securely within the range of development typical for their age. They have a positive attitude towards learning and are keen to try new experiences. Children learn to listen and have good communication skills. They behave well and play safely. Children develop the important skills and attitudes they need for the next stage in their learning.
