This provision is good
The childminder and her assistants are kind and caring. They know children and their families well and build trusting bonds with them. Children are very content in their care. The childminder has worked hard to address weaknesses raised at her previous inspection. She has attended training and works closely with her local authority development worker to make the necessary improvements to her practice. The childminder works closely with her assistants and provides them with regular support to help raise the quality of their teaching. For example, one of her assistants has gained an early years qualification at level 2. The childminder supports children to lead a healthy lifestyle. Children go outdoors every day in the garden and on walks in the local area. Additionally, children are provided with healthy and nutritious meals and snacks. The childminder observes children regularly and makes accurate assessments. She

plans a wide range of activities that promotes the next steps in their learning.

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always use the correction pronunciation of words or allow children enough time to think and respond to questions. The childminder does not gather detailed information from parents about what children know and can already do at the start of their placement.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed teaching during activities carried out indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this had on children's learning. The inspector spoke to the childminder, her assistants and the children throughout the inspection. The inspector held a meeting with the childminder. She looked at relevant documents and checked evidence of the suitability of those who live and work at her home. The inspector took into account the views of parents from parental questionnaires, feedback forms and cards.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistants have a secure knowledge of the procedures to follow should they have any concerns about a child's welfare. Documents, such as registers of attendance, accident and medication forms, are in place and thoroughly implemented. The childminder and her assistants hold a paediatric first-aid certificate. This further helps to ensure children's safety. The childminder uses self- evaluation effectively. She has sought the views of children, parents and her assistants and has made meaningful changes to the setting. For example, she has acquired the use of an allotment to enable her to build on children's interest in the outdoors and nature. Overall, partnerships with parents are good. The childminder shares regular information with them about their child's progress and provides them with ideas to help learning at home. Parents say their children love it at the setting and that they couldn't wish for a

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder interacts well with children. She uses fun and effective teaching to help children extend and build on their current skills. Children are supported to learn about numbers. For example, they count during every day routines and activities, and enjoy participating in singing number rhymes and songs. Overall, the childminder supports children's language and communication skills well. She introduces new words, such as, 'pentagon' and asks children to recall previous events. Babies are encouraged to crawl, pull themselves to standing and walk. This supports their developing physical skills and they excitedly explore their surroundings.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Settling-in sessions are flexible and used well. The childminder uses this time to get to know children and their families. The childminder and her assistants are attentive to children's needs and children happily approach them for comfort and reassurance. Children are developing good social skills and the confidence to do things for themselves. For example, feeding themselves and tidying away toys. Children demonstrate they are gaining an understanding of keeping themselves safe. For example, they wait for the childminder before going down the stairs and know to hold the rail. Babies' individual needs are discussed and agreed with parents and then closely followed. This supports their emotional development and helps them to settle quickly.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are active and keen learners who enjoy their time at the childminder's home. They develop the key skills needed for future learning and school. For example, they independently place on their own coats before going outdoors. Additionally, they serve themselves at snack time and manage their own needs for a drink. Children achieve good levels of development from their starting points. They have good social skills and behave well given their age and stage of development.
