This provision is good
The well-qualified childminder treats children as part of her own family. She takes positive steps to help them feel settled and secure. This supports their emotional well- being very well. The childminder's home is welcoming and stimulating. Children independently help themselves to the wide range of good-quality resources. They learn to behave well and to develop good social skills. The childminder accurately checks children's progress and identifies the next steps in learning with their parents. Parents receive comprehensive information about their children's progress and are supported to guide their children's learning at home. The childminder reviews the quality of her practice effectively. She identifies areas to develop and includes these in a book, which she continually updates. She shares good practice with other childcare professionals to help extend her knowledge of children's care and learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder does not adapt her teaching to help younger children gain a further understanding about numbers and what they represent. The childminder does not consistently make the most of learning opportunities outdoors all year round, especially for children who prefer to play outside.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors. She assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector talked to the childminder and children at appropriate times. She looked at children's information and development records. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector looked at evidence of the suitability of the childminder and sampled policies and other records. The inspector took account of the views of parents, from documents containing their comments on the provision.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a secure understanding of her responsibilities to protect children. She knows the procedures to follow if she has any concerns about children. The childminder ensures all areas of her home and outings are safe for children. She regularly completes training and to increase her knowledge, for example, she effectively uses the information gained to support children's language skills. The childminder has successfully addressed the recommendations from her previous inspection. Children now have ample opportunities to develop their independence. The childminder effectively shares information with other providers where children attend. This contributes to ensure that there is a continuity of care and learning to help support children's progress and development.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder follows children's lead and effectively supports their learning during self- chosen activities. For example, she provides a running commentary when younger children play with puppets. The childminder introduces new words to extend toddlers' vocabulary. They copy her actions, such as doing up zips on the puppet, and attempt to repeat words. The childminder successfully involves older children in specific games to help broaden their understanding and pronunciation of letter sounds. This helps to support children's communication skills. The childminder enhances children's confidence and emerging literacy skills well. She regularly reads stories with the children and she takes them to age- appropriate groups where they enjoy taking part in singing activities.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder works closely with parents to help her gain a secure understanding about their children's changing needs. She follows home routines, such as sleeping and eating habits. The childminder knows children's dietary needs and preferences very well and encourages children to develop good hygiene routines. Children have opportunities to practise their physical skills. For example, they enjoy outings to soft-play centres where they use challenging play equipment. They learn to keep themselves safe, for example, toddlers learn not to snatch toys from each other. Older children learn about road safety when they go to and from nursery.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are well prepared for their future learning, including their eventual move on to school. They confidently make choices and independent decisions throughout the day. They share books and follow the story. Children are developing good physical skills and are learning how to successfully operate interactive toys.
