This provision is good
The childminder is experienced and knowledgeable. She is passionate about providing excellent-quality childcare for children and their families. Parents are extremely complimentary about the childminder. They say she has exceeded their expectations of what a childminder is. The childminder undertakes regular observations and assessments of the children. She uses this information to plan appropriate next steps in their learning. The environment is well-organised and stimulating for children. There is a wide range of toys and resources available and children chose happily from the activities provided. Children have easy access to a well-resourced outdoor area, which they can enjoy in all weathers as there is a large covered area. Children feel happy and settled in the childminder's care. She has a kind and caring manner and children respond well to her. The childminder often only cares for small

groups of children of a similar age. This means that children benefit from plenty of individual attention.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always follow children's lead and preferred learning style. At times, during children's free play she can be over directive, which means children have less opportunities to express themselves using their own thoughts and ideas.

The inspector took account of the written views of parents expressed in letters read during the inspection The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder looked at relevant documentation.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder understands the indicators that children may be at risk of abuse, harm or from extreme views and behaviours. The childminder takes steps to promote children's safety in her home and when on outings. For example, she encourages children to wear high-visibility jackets when on outings, so they can be seen. The childminder is ambitious, hardworking and carefully reflects on her practice to ensure she is meeting all the requirements of the early years foundation stage. She makes the most of support offered from her local authority and recognises the value of training. This is helping her to enhance her awareness of how best to support children in their learning and to widen the experiences she provides for them.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder demonstrates a very good knowledge of children, which is reflected in the monitoring and information she keeps of children's learning and development. She is a good teacher and plans a broad range of activities that help children develop in all areas of learning. The childminder weaves in opportunities to support children's mathematical development. For example, children enjoy weighing their toast at snack time. The childminder has established effective partnerships with local schools and other early years providers. For example, she identifies what they are working on and implements a similar theme or topic. This collaborative approach helps to promote information sharing to enhance children's care and learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder encourages children to be independent, as they can help themselves to a range of resources that motivate them to play. Children have excellent opportunities for fresh air and exercise. They learn all about their bodies and the effects of exercise. The childminder helps them to warm up their muscles at the start and talks about their heart beating faster, and that they need a drink of water when they have finished. Children show good physical skills, balance and coordination as they ride bikes around the garden. The childminder plans opportunities for children to learn all about healthy food. For example, she uses her topic of traditional stories to make a beanstalk salad with the children. Children demonstrate good behaviour. The childminder consistently praises their efforts and her calm approach helps children to learn what is expected.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in all areas of learning. They are developing their communication, language and literacy skills exceptionally well. They begin to show an awareness of letters and the sounds they represent, write their own name independently and recognise names of their peers. They recite favourite books they have read and use increasing detail and memory to describe what has happened in the story. Children are learning useful skills that help to ensure they are well prepared for the next stage in their learning and their eventual move on to school.
