The manager works between both homes and has a deputy and dedicated team in each home. The manager and staff team work well together to provide children in their care with nurturing and consistent support. Excellent focus is given to the child’s individual and diverse needs and how living in the home can have a positive impact on their childhood and future life plans.

and young people since the most recent full inspection
The manager and staff work successfully with a wide range of professionals and with children’s families. They support children to see their families regularly and maintain positive relationships. One child has recently moved out of the home to return to live in his family home. This was achieved following a great deal of input from the manager and staff, about which they received extensive praise from the family and other Inspection report children’s home: SC471038 2 professionals also involved.

and young people since the most recent full inspection
A new child has now moved into the home. Their needs are very different, but the manager has given very careful consideration as to how they will meet their needs and support them to make good progress. Some additional training has been identified for staff to undertake to ensure that they have the opportunity to refresh their skills and knowledge in specific areas. The child told the inspector that they really like the home and staff and have been given a lot of support to settle.
p.2
and young people since the most recent full inspection
The manager and staff demonstrate a very good understanding of how to keep children safe. They respond thoroughly to any concerning incidents, for example children going missing or staff conduct issues. Children remain at the centre of the staff team’s practice and are encouraged to have their say. The manager and staff think creatively about how to support children to communicate with them when, for example, they feel anxious or unable to verbalise any worries they have. The manager and staff are also sensitive to ways in which they can support children to develop confidence and a positive self-image. For example, children are encouraged to join groups where they can meet like-minded friends. Staff are also mindful of how social networking can expose children to an increased risk of harm and are diligent in applying appropriate parental safeguards.
p.2
and young people since the most recent full inspection
The environment is homely, comfortable and spacious. Children are encouraged to personalise their bedroom and to have a say in the choice of decor and furnishings throughout. There is a small courtyard garden at the rear of the house, which would benefit from a makeover. As the current child wishes to have a pet, this is an ideal opportunity to look at how this small area can be redesigned to provide a pleasant and multi-use outdoor space.
p.2
and young people since the most recent full inspection
The three requirements made at the full inspection in May 2017 have been appropriately addressed. The manager continues to grow in confidence and shows strong leadership qualities, being able to challenge other professionals if necessary to enhance the quality of care and support that children in her care receive.
