This provision is good
The childminder and her co-childminder evaluate their practice regularly. Since registration the childminder has worked hard to improve the quality of teaching. She has completed training to help keep her knowledge of childcare up to date. Children make good progress in their learning. The childminder carries out detailed observations and assessments and supports children's individual needs effectively. Children have built strong attachments with the childminder. Children settle quickly into the warm, welcoming and friendly environment. Children are motivated, eager to learn and enjoy the activities on offer. Children make their own choices about what they would like to play with, supporting their growing independence skills. The childminder shares verbal information with parents at the end of the children's day. Parents comment very highly about the care provided by the childminders.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder is not successful in engaging children's cooperation in simple tasks, such as tidying up before mealtimes. The childminder does not share details of children's progress and next steps often enough to help parents complement their children's learning even further at home.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and the childminder and co-childminder's interactions with children. The inspector spoke to the childminder, co-childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector checked and discussed evidence of the suitability of all adults living or working on the premises and checked the qualifications of the childminder. The inspector took the views of parents into account from information gathered by the childminder. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including children's records, safeguarding procedures and the childminder's other written policies and procedures.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is clear about the procedures to follow should she have any concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder is confident about the indicators that may alert her to any child protections concerns. She understands the importance of monitoring children's non-attendance. The childminder is committed to maintaining her professional development and good standards of teaching. For example, the childminder spoke about how useful recent training about improving communication with children has been for her.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder effectively supports children's emerging language and communication skills. For example, she asks questions to help children think and problem solve, such as 'How many do you have?' and 'what else would you like on your pizza?' The childminder supports children's developing imagination well. For example, she encourages children when they play with dough and make pizza, putting on toppings using the dough, then pretending to cook the pizza in the oven. The childminder supports children effectively in their mathematical understanding, such as when they talk about the patterns they make in the dough. She asks them how many pieces they have and how many more they need.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children settle quickly. The childminder supports children's emotional well-being effectively. Children demonstrate they feel comfortable and very happy in the adults' company. Children enjoy developing their independence as they contribute to helping with the preparation of snacks, such as giving out plates and cutting up the fruit. Children enjoy regular access to fresh air and exercise as they play in the garden and take part in regular outings around the local area. The childminder makes effective use of these opportunities to support their understanding of healthy lifestyles. The childminder maintains children's privacy at all times, particularly during care routines, such as when changing nappies. Children are well behaved. They respond well to the positive language and encouragement offered by the childminder.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are happy and confident in their surroundings. They enjoy exploring the world around them as they play outside and take part in regular outings. Children count with confidence, recognise shapes, colours and sizes. They develop their imagination well as they take part in activities. Children are prepared well for their next stages in their learning or move to school.
