This home was judged Good at the last full inspection. At the interim inspection, Ofsted judges that it has sustained effectiveness. The child living in this children’s home has done so for nearly two years. Living in this home is having a very positive impact on her overall experiences and progress and, consequently, her future life chances. team members work effectively together to provide clear boundaries and consistency of care. Inspection report children’s home: SC458812 2 The child is making very good progress at school. Her attendance is excellent and she is predicted good results in her GCSEs in the summer of 2019. The manager and staff are effective in helping her to feel confident and proud of her achievements and to think positively about what she can pursue when she completes her examinations. They are supporting the child to attend college open days and to think about a range of possibilities she can explore. A comprehensive placement plan is in place. Following the full inspection, this has been improved to detail clear targets and evidence progress that has been made. The manager and staff show a strong commitment to helping children to lead a healthy lifestyle. They have been successful in encouraging the child to stop smoking. They also

encourage healthy eating and regular exercise by preparing homemade healthy meals, putting in place a range of incentives to exercise regularly, and providing good role modelling themselves in these areas. Despite their best efforts, staff have had limited success in helping the child to maintain a healthy weight. Advice has been taken from a range of healthcare professionals and the GP has made a paediatric dietetic referral. Following discussions during this inspection, the inspector highlighted the importance of staff having access to specialist training in order for them to identify additional ways that they can effectively support the child in their care. The manager and staff are effective in helping children to stay in touch and the child has seen her family regularly. The team works in partnership with the placing authority and other professionals to safely manage any risks that are identified.

The manager is part way through her level 5 qualification and is confident she will achieve this within the required timescale. She supports staff to achieve their level 3 qualification and keeps clear records of the progress they are making. Following a recent staff conduct matter, it was identified that a member of staff needs to complete further training in equality and diversity and, during this inspection, the inspector clarified that it was imperative that this was addressed within a timely period.
