The childminder securely understands her role and responsibilities. She manages her provision efficiently and implements effective policies and procedures. The childminder evaluates her practice accurately and identifies improvements to help keep children safe, secure and happy. The childminder has developed her observation and assessments of children's learning. She shares these with parents and encourages them to be involved in planning for what their child needs to learn next. The childminder supports children's continued good progress well. She knows the skills children need to develop and provides opportunities for children to practise these skills. The childminder plays alongside children, interacts with them well and extends their learning. She consistently praises children's efforts and achievements, and helps them to grow in confidence and self-esteem. The childminder provides a relaxed and homely environment where children develop a

positive sense of belonging. Children show that they have secure and warm relationships with the childminder that support their emotional well-being.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not provide children with enough experiences to broaden their understanding of the world around them. The childminder's professional development plans are not focused enough on raising the quality of teaching to secure even higher outcomes for children.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of adults living in the household.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder updates her safeguarding knowledge and understanding regularly, including how to recognise and protect children from extreme views. She knows what to do in the event of a concern about a child's welfare. The childminder understands the importance of regularly checking children's development to identify and address any gaps in their progress. She has effective relationships with parents and seeks the views of parents, children and others. The childminder uses their comments and suggestions to make improvements to her practice. She helps children learn how to keep themselves safe, for instance, to handle cutlery and other resources with care and learn how to cross the road.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children benefit from the childminder's effective teaching. The childminder spends time playing with children. She asks them well-placed questions and talks to them about what they are doing. Children are excited to try all the activities. The childminder is very responsive to children's interests and includes these into her planning to widen their experience. For example, children who enjoy role-play kitchen with play foods are encouraged to swipe the play credit card on the cash register. They develop their mathematical understanding and count play money with the childminder. Children's communication and language development are supported well. The childminder uses descriptive language to extend their vocabulary and she repeats words back to them.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children settle well with the nurturing childminder. She is a good role model for children and has high expectations of their behaviour. Children behave well, including cooperating with others, sharing and using good manners. They show respect and consideration for each other. The childminder provides children with daily opportunities to be outside in the fresh air. For example, children make mud and stone castles in the garden and take walks to the local area. The childminder helps children adopt healthy attitudes. For example, she talks to them about the importance of personal hygiene to reduce the risk of infections. Children are independent and confidently follow their interests and choose resources with which to play.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good developmental progress and any gaps in their learning are rapidly closing. They are confident to express their feelings about things they like. They learn to sort and match simple objects, and use good mathematical language to describe shapes of objects around them. Children use a wide variety of equipment outdoors, such as kicking various sized footballs into a goal confidently. Children use writing materials well to make marks. They enjoy drawing circles on large blackboards with chunky chalks. Children are well prepared for the next stage in their learning.
