This provision is good
The childminder provides a child-centred and well-resourced environment where children are curious learners and confidently explore. She knows the children well, providing activities to engage them and support their good progress. Partnerships with parents are strong. Parent's comments show that they value and appreciate the good care and learning opportunities the childminder provides for their children. The childminder provides children with good opportunities to learn the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle. For example, they regularly play outdoors and are encouraged to follow good hygiene practices. Children build strong relationships with the childminder. They are happy and settled, and show lots of self-confidence, which helps build good levels of emotional well-being. The childminder effectively supports children to develop their language and communication skills. For example, she teaches children to use sign language, which

especially benefits babies and children who are learning to speak.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder has not established a programme of professional development, to drive forward future improvement and raise the quality of the provision even further. The childminder does not monitor the quality of provision rigorously enough, to identify areas for development that will improve outcomes for children even further.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector had a tour of the premises. The inspector observed the quality of teaching and the impact on children's progress. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children throughout the inspection. The inspector completed a joint observation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector looked at documentation and records, including evidence of the suitability of adults within the home. The inspector took account of parents' comments.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is vigilant about the protection of children in her care. She confidently identifies potential areas of abuse and the reporting procedures she would follow to ensure the welfare of children. The childminder prioritises her own professional development of safeguarding, to keep her knowledge and understanding up to date. She uses good risk assessments to protect children from harm both, in the home and on outings. She monitors children's progress well, to enable her to identify and address any gaps in their learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides a wide range of experiences that supports children's progress well. Children are enthusiastic and motivated in their play. For example, they are keen to join in with singing familiar rhymes and songs. Children choose instruments, and dance and sing along to music. The childminder is skilled at using her knowledge of children's current stages of development, to prepare interesting activities that they engage in and enjoy. For example, children develop small-muscle skills as they manipulate ice with tweezers. The childminder extends this activity to develop their understanding of colour, such as mixing different colours on the ice. Children eagerly predict and observe the changes.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder contributes to children's excellent social and emotional development. She is very sensitive to the needs of the children in her care. For example, she gives cuddles and reassurance as children seek her out when in the presence of unfamiliar adults. The childminder gathers detailed information about children from the start and works extremely well in partnership with parents. For example, they share children's achievements and routines from home and the setting regularly. This helps to assure continuity of care. Children enjoy using resources that reflect diverse communities. This helps them to understand similarities and differences between themselves and others.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress in relation to their starting points. They gain skills to support their growing independence. For example, children help prepare the table for lunch and tidy away toys. Young children are motivated to learn. For instance, they practise their early writing skills and use a variety of resources, such as crayons and chalks, to make marks. Children learn key skills in readiness for their eventual move on to nursery or school.
