This provision is good
The childminder is well qualified and experienced. She adopts a professional approach to her work and effectively organises her records, policies and procedures to secure children's good health and welfare. The childminder plans a broad range of activities and experiences, overall, which helps children make good progress from their starting points. The childminder provides parents with good-quality information about the service she offers and the progress their children make. The childminder place a clear priority on supporting the children's communication and language during her interactions. Children who speak English as an additional language are supported well to help close any gaps in their learning. Arrangements to promote children's personal, social and emotional development are good. The childminder meets the children's individual care needs and supports their emotional well-being effectively.
p.1

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector took account of the views of parents through the feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder works closely with other childminders to help her evaluate her practice, share ideas and help maintain her good practice. There are clear plans in place to help to her develop the service even further and drive improvement. Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of child protection issues. For example, she knows what to look for if a child is suffering abuse or neglect and the procedure to follow if she has a child protection concern. She carries out daily checks to ensure the home and garden are safe and she takes effective steps to keep children safe on outings.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses observation and assessment well to help plan a challenging range of enjoyable experiences for children. This contributes effectively to helping children develop good levels of involvement in their play and learning. For example, the lounge and kitchen are organised well to help children move around freely. Children choose from the broad range of activities on offer, which is attractively displayed and captures their curiosity quickly. The childminder uses and combines the resources in a variety of ways to entice children to play. For example, they are intrigued as they explore and investigate puffed rice with a variety of spoons, ladles and dishes on a wicker basket, and real garlic. The childminder places a good focus on promoting children's language as she engages them in discussion and introduces new words, ideas and concepts.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder works closely with parents to find about their children's routines, habits and preferences. She uses this information to ensure the care she provides is consistent with parents' wishes. The childminder talks to children and parents about healthy eating habits and children benefit from freshly prepared meals and fresh fruits. They learn how to keep safe in the home and on outings. For example, children learn how to use the knives safely as they help prepare meals and snacks, and learn about road safety. Children understand right from wrong and are encouraged to talk about how they are feeling. Children learn about diversity. They use a range of resources and taste various foods reflecting a variety of cultures.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress from their starting points and are well prepared for school. Children show a real interest in the natural world as they consider the changing seasons. Children learn to care for the fresh produce they have helped plant, such as marrows, cucumbers, tomatoes, beans, chillies and coriander. Children enjoy exploring the available resources. For example, children explore the water in the bowl with shells, stones and sponges, and consider the textures and enjoy counting. Children thoroughly enjoy making marks and writing as they paint and as they use felt pens on the wipe-clean boards. Children enjoy stories and songs and the time they spend with the childminder.
