This provision is good
The childminder monitors children's progress well to help close gaps in children's learning. Children make good progress from their individual starting points. Partnerships with parents are effective to help the continuous care and education of children. The childminder shares all relevant information, including care routines and children's progress and next steps in learning. Parents comment that they are very happy with the care the childminder provides. The childminder reflects on her practice to help improve outcomes for children. For example, she is currently undertaking further training to increase her childcare knowledge and she requests feedback from parents to address any weaknesses. Children are happy, secure and confident learners. The childminder has established caring, affectionate relationships with children to support their emotional well-being. The childminder supports assistants to develop their professional practice and offers
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
On occasions, the childminder misses opportunities to challenge children to make the most of their learning when opportunities arise, to help their continued progress. The childminder does not always seek information from other professionals about the support they are offering children, to better help children in her care.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and learning during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector looked at a sample of documentation, including children's records, and the childminder's certificates and qualifications. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector took account of parents' views by speaking to a parent and reading written feedback.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows how to identify possible concerns about a child's welfare and how to follow reporting requirements. The childminder carries out thorough risk assessments, including when taking children on trips, to help ensure children's safety and well-being. The childminder effectively supports children who are identified as being in need of support. She manages her provision well and maintains all the required documentation to support children's care and learning. The childminder keeps parents updated about any incidents that occur to support good communication.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a strong understanding of how to promote children's learning and development. Children who have special educational needs receive high levels of support and targeted intervention; for example, individual care and learning. The childminder supports children's language and communication well. For example, children frequently imitate words and sounds, and use pointing with eye gaze to make requests and to share an interest. The childminder encourages children's physical skills effectively. For instance, children mount steps on climbing equipment using alternate feet. The childminder helps develop children's personal, social and emotional skills well. For example, children play alongside others and want to do things independently.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder supports children's awareness of behaviour. For example, children respond to a few appropriate boundaries with encouragement and support, and understand 'yes' and 'no'. The childminder encourages children's understanding of healthy lifestyles. For instance, she offers healthy, nutritious meals and encourages children to try new foods. Children independently handle everyday tools and pour their own drinks. The childminder ensures that children have daily opportunities for physical exercise. For example, they enjoy trips to the local park and library. The childminder supports children's awareness of diversity well. For instance, children learn about different cultural festivals.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are well prepared for their next stage in learning, including school. They know some letters and sounds of the alphabet and enjoy rhyming games. Children recognise some colours and are beginning to count objects during play. They understand hygiene routines and manage their personal needs with support from the childminder. Children join in singing favourite songs and begin to move to music.
