This provision is good
Children enjoy their time at the after-school club and build friendships across the year groups. Staff provide a range of activities based on the children's interests, such as creative activities that engage their attention. Staff have a good partnership with parents. Parents appreciate the good communication and care given to their children to support all their needs. Staff ask good questions that engage children in meaningful conversations and develop their thinking and creative skills. Children behave well. They have a clear understanding of their responsibilities and the rules. For example, children calmly follow instructions to wash their hands for snack. The provider supports the staff effectively to maintain good standards. The manager completes regular meetings to help staff to have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities. The manager regularly reviews the staff's practice and helps them to make changes

that improve the quality of the provision.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Staff do not provide a wide range of interesting and stimulating activities for all children's interests, especially those that prefer to play outdoors. Key persons do not exchange information with the school to help provide a consistent approach to children's care and enjoyment.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and the quality of staff interactions. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including policies and procedures, for example, safeguarding and induction. The inspector took account of parents' views through discussions. The inspector spoke to the manager, staff and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector discussed the manager's evaluation of the after-school club and the improvements they have made.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. Staff are fully aware of the procedures to follow, should they detect signs of abuse or identify children who are at risk of developing extreme views. They ensure the children are safe by implementing risk assessments effectively to minimise any risks. The manager supports staff to develop their skills and staff regularly complete training that extends their knowledge. Staff, parents and children contribute to the self-evaluation and the provider and manager use these to develop practice further. The provider and manager use good recruitment and vetting procedures and give staff effective support to understand their roles and responsibilities when they first start. Communication with parents is good; staff use a variety of ways to exchange information, such as on a notice board, newsletters and text messages. The manager ensures staff record all accidents and notifies Ofsted of any serious accidents within 14 days.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children have access to a broad range of good-quality resources and they make choices about what they want to play with. For example, older children creatively use a wide range of resources to make clothing from different materials. Conversations are lively and interesting. Children are happy to share their thoughts and ideas with others to support their games and share their own experiences, such as teaching other children to play chess. Staff offer children opportunities to use small tools, for example, children carefully use scissors to cut material. Staff congratulate the children on their effort and the end results. Staff work with parents from the outset to identify and support children's interests and abilities and understand their personalities. They keep parents well informed of children's experiences, including a photo scrapbook and newsletters.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
On arrival, children confidently organise their play and activities and help each other. For example, older children offer support to younger children when playing games, such as chess and monopoly. Staff consider how to offer individual children consistent support. For example, they put together care plans for those children who need extra support. They are quick to notice when young children require emotional support. For example, staff check with children who appear to be working alone or not settling. Children have a large space to develop their physical skills. They enjoy running and using scooters on the school playground. Children are polite and courteous to one another, staff and visitors. They are independent and demonstrate their responsible attitudes, such as helping with tasks and following instructions. Staff provide healthy and well-balanced snacks and children help themselves to drinks when they feel thirsty.
