This provision is good
Children are very settled and happy in the care of the childminder. They are confident and develop good independence. They develop secure attachments and delight at the activities the childminder plans to support their learning and further development. Parents comment that their children enjoy their time at the setting. They note that children take part in exciting opportunities and trips to enhance learning. The childminder uses the feedback from parents and older children to review and enhance the provision. Safeguarding procedures are detailed and well organised. The childminder has developed exceptionally strong relationships with other providers and settings to ensure information is shared effectively. The childminder evaluates the quality of her provision effectively. She is keen to improve and has a clear understanding of how to develop the provision further. She works within a network of childminders to access additional training to support her
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always help children to gain an understanding of the changes in their routines and children sometimes become frustrated when activities end. On occasion, opportunities to extend children's understanding and use of positional language are not fully considered.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector and the childminder discussed her knowledge of the learning and development and safeguarding and welfare requirements. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector reviewed letters from parents during the inspection and took account of their views. The inspector had a tour of the areas of the premises to be used for childminding purposes. The inspector held a meeting with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation regarding her suitability to work with children.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder is suitably qualified and engages in professional development opportunities through a childminding network. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure understanding of the procedures she should follow if she has a concern about the welfare of a child in her care. The childminder carries out thorough risk assessments of her premises and for outings to ensure she keeps children safe. Procedures for monitoring children's learning are good. The childminder has a good understanding of where children are in their learning and how to enhance and support their future next steps. She is quick to recognise children's individual and specific needs and seek additional support.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses children's interests effectively to plan further learning opportunities. She observes children's developmental progress to identify possible activities that build on their interests and encourages them to learn. Children delight as they make creatures with play dough. This helps to support their developing physical skills. The childminder observes children regularly and uses these observations to plan individual next steps in their learning. She encourages children's speaking skills and skilfully repeats their words to help to support their developing language skills. The childminder uses good teaching techniques to encourage children's participation in story times, for example, children enjoy making farm animal story props before sharing a story.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder takes time getting to know children and families when they first start. She follows children's home routines that help them to develop a strong sense of security. Children are encouraged to manage aspects of their self-care, such as trying to wipe their nose and washing their own hands in preparation for mealtimes. Children are well behaved. Children are provided with regular exercise and enjoy outings to the park and further afield to the zoo and local farms to support their current learning and interests. The childminder offers meaningful praise and guidance and shares the experiences of children with families and other settings that children attend. Children develop firm friendships and play cooperatively with one another. They enjoy their time with older siblings who attend after school.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning and development and are happy and eager to engage in activities. Children are encouraged to make choices, for example, they choose what they would like to eat for snacks and the childminder discusses the importance of healthy eating. Children are well prepared for their future learning. The childminder supports them well to develop skills that help to prepare them for their eventual move on to school. They have developed strong relationships with other children who attend.
