This provision is good
The childminder monitors children's progress well through her effective observation, assessment and planning procedures. She identifies children's next steps and supports children well in their activities to achieve their targets. Partnerships with parents are effective. The childminder provides clear information for parents about their children's learning. This enables her and parents to work well together, to encourage children's ongoing achievements. Children are happy and settle easily in the care of the childminder. They enjoy a wide range of activities and outings, which supports all areas of their learning and development well. Children make good progress from their developmental starting points. The childminder seeks the views of parents, to involve them well in her effective self- evaluation process. She continues to further develop and improve her provision, to the benefit of children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not effectively communicate, to share information with other settings that children attend, to further support and encourage continuity of care and learning for children.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

develop robust systems of communication with other settings that children attend, to increase support in the continuity of care and learning for children.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder and children in their indoor activities. The inspector had discussions with the childminder and spoke to the children. The inspector read feedback letters from parents and looked at a sample of children's development records. The inspector viewed documentation, including training certificates and accident records. The inspector checked the childminder's safeguarding policies and procedures.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Since the last inspection, the childminder has increased the information that she gives to parents, to involve them further in her assessment process, addressing the recommendation raised at her inspection well. The childminder completes training courses and attends network meetings to refresh and increase her good childcare knowledge. She successfully seek ideas from the internet and other providers, to increase her range of activities. For example, she has been inspired to do baking activities with children. This has helped the childminder to increase her support in children's mathematical understanding. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure understanding of the procedures that enable her to safeguard children's welfare.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder organises her resources well to help children make independent choices. For example, younger children select books and sit themselves comfortably on the settee. They show a good interest as they look at pictures and turn the pages. Children enjoy imaginative play, such as dressing and undressing dolls. Children learn through play and the childminder's good interactions. For example, the childminder teaches children to recognise different colours as they paint. The childminder supports children's communication and language skills well. For instance, she encourages younger children to learn new words and older children to learn letter sounds.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children show close attachments to the childminder and make friendships. They play well and learn to share. For example, children giggle and have fun together as they build with the bricks. They understand how to tidy away and when it is time for the next activity. Children listen to the childminder and behave well, which helps to keep them safe. For instance, the childminder teaches children to recognise the sound of vehicle-reversing beeps when on outings. Children learn safe boundaries and how to use equipment with care. They develop good coordination and independence skills. For example, older children are careful as they cut their fruit into pieces. Children develop a good sense of responsibility as they learn how to take care of things. For example, they sow cress seeds with the childminder, who explains the need for light and water for the seeds to thrive.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children enjoy their play and are keen to learn. For example, they readily respond as the childminder suggests a craft activity. Children follow her guidance well to paint handprints and make a card. Following this, children confidently ask to 'paint on paper' and happily express their own creativity. Children develop good skills for learning, which prepares them well for pre-school and school.
