This provision is good
The childminder effectively monitors the good progress children make. She uses her observations to track and plan for their next steps in learning as she follows their interests. The childminder builds on young children's literacy and social skills well. For example, when reading the children stories, she helps them learn to share and take turns while pressing interactive buttons and they turn the pages with delight. The childminder gives children opportunities to develop friendships with others. They attend local play and singing groups where they join in with activities and develop the skills they need in readiness for their future moves on to nursery and school. Children are taught about good health while being provided with freshly prepared, nutritious foods which contribute significantly towards keeping them healthy. The childminder is committed to maintaining good standards in children's learning and

care. For example, she shares ideas with other childminders and researches different ideas to help update her knowledge and skills, and improve practice.

It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder does not encourage children to learn more about numbers as part of their growing understanding of mathematics. The childminder does not make full use of opportunities to extend children's knowledge of diversity and equality.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder interacting with the children. The inspector had discussions with the childminder about her practice and children's learning and development. The inspector sampled documents, including children's records and other relevant documentation. The inspector carried out a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. She held discussions with her regarding children's learning and the impact of teaching on their progress. The inspector read comments from parents and took account of their views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows the signs and symptoms that may give her cause for concern. She knows the correct procedures to follow if she has any concerns regarding a child's welfare. Effective risk assessments for the home and outings help to ensure that children are kept safe and secure. The childminder has developed clear procedures to share information with staff at other settings children attend, to help provide a consistent approach. Parents express positive feedback. For example, they say that she is everything they want from a childminder; she is friendly, approachable accommodating and she makes the children feel really welcome in her home. The childminder completes regular assessments of children's progress and shares the results with parents. Together they identify what they are going to focus on next for each child and how they are going to address any gaps in their learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children make choices about their play from the easily available range of resources and play equipment. They take part in adult-led activities and those they choose for themselves. The childminder supervises children and joins in with their play. This helps them to develop independence and self-esteem. The childminder takes time to listen carefully to children and extends their conversations effectively. For instance, she provides commentary on their play and extends their vocabulary by introducing new words. The childminder knows the children well through gathering detailed information from parents when they join the setting. Parents receive daily feedback so that they understand what their child is learning when they are at the childminder's home.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are happy and confident, and they behave well. The childminder acts as a good role model and reminds children to be kind and respectful to one another. They respond positively towards her. Children gain an understanding of risk, through taking part in supervised activities that encourage them to explore resources safely. For example, young children attempt to butter their own bread when making sandwiches, supported by the childminder when needed. Children develop independence well. For instance, young children are eager to put their own shoes on and increase their skills further, for example, through watching and sharing this routine with older children.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are working comfortably within the ranges of development that is typical for their ages. For example, they show good imagination as they play with play pots and pans and prepare a snack for one another. Children are eager to learn and have good levels of motivation.
