This provision is good
Children demonstrate that they are emotionally secure. They go to the childminder for cuddles and reassurance, showing their close relationship with her. The childminder uses observations and assessments to help identify what children need to learn next. She encourages parents to continue children's learning at home. For example, she helps them to promote children's speaking skills. The childminder extends her professional development. She attends training courses and meets with other childminders to discuss and share good practice. Recent training helps her to support children's speaking skills more effectively. The childminder identifies improvements to her practice. She gathers feedback from parents to help identify her strengths and makes changes to improve outcomes for children. Recent changes to resources help children to develop their imagination. The childminder promotes positive behaviour. She gives children plenty of praise and

encouragement, helping to raise their self-esteem. The childminder encourages children to be independent and to promote their own personal care routines.

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not gather enough information from parents when children first start to help her plan for children's learning right from the beginning of their placement. The childminder does not share enough information about children's learning with other early years settings they also attend to support consistency in their learning and development.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

gather more information from parents about children's prior achievements and learning when they first start attending strengthen partnerships with other early years settings that children also attend to share more detailed information about their learning and development.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke to children. The inspector took account of the views of parents through reading the written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder shares information with parents about their child's achievements and levels of learning daily. Parents can view children's observations and assessment records on the electronic program used by the childminder. Parents comment positively about the childminder and her service. They say that she provides children with fun in a safe and caring home. Older children say that they enjoy snack time. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder completes risk assessment in her home and minimises hazards. She helps children to learn about how to evacuate her home in an emergency. This helps children to learn about how to keep themselves safe. The childminder knows her responsibilities to safeguard children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder demonstrates good-quality teaching and models play as she interacts alongside children. For example, the childminder shows younger children how to post objects into a container. She taps on the box, encouraging them to listen to the sound and to repeat the actions. This helps children to learn through their senses. The childminder encourages older children to develop their mathematical skills. She works with them to create shapes using magnetic objects. The childminder uses mathematical language, such as 'long' and 'more', as children learn how to make a cube.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides children with a range of healthy snacks. She helps them to learn about healthy foods and provides them with opportunities to bake, such as making cheese scones. The childminder encourages children to extend their physical skills. She offers them a good range of toys and resources in her garden. Children play with balls, ride on scooters and like to run on the grass. The childminder takes children to local groups to help them develop relationships with others and build their social skills. She makes sure that toys and resources are suitable for the ages of children she cares for. For example, she moves small objects away from younger children to promote their safety. The childminder completes health care plans with parents to help her meet children's medical needs. She attends training to ensure that medication is administered safely.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress and learn key skills in readiness for their move on to nursery and eventually to school. They are motivated and keen to try new activities. Children are confident and talk to the childminder about their preferences and needs. Younger children learn to develop their hand-to-eye coordination through play. They move confidently around the childminder's home, developing their balance and early walking skills.
