This provision is good
The directors and staff have exceptionally high levels of qualifications. The directors show a strong commitment to upskilling the staff team to further strengthen their knowledge and increase the quality of teaching. Supervisory sessions are effective in supporting staff in their roles. Children explore activities that help them to develop their writing skills in readiness for starting school. They play with dough where they make shapes and dinosaurs using moulds. At the writing table they make snail shell spiral shapes. The key-person relationships are strong. Children are close to staff and show strong attachment to them. Staff are gentle, kind and caring in return. Children make good progress in their learning. Staff make accurate observations and assessments of their development. They plan meaningful activities and know children that they care for well.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Staff do not challenge children to be sensitive when they show displeasure at new experiences that others find enjoyable as they begin to understand the world around them. Staff have not found a consistently effective way to help all parents to support children's learning at home.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

encourage children to consider their behaviour and responses when they do not enjoy the same things as others, particularly during new experiences extend on opportunities to further engage parents in actively supporting children's learning at home.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed children's learning activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact these have on children's development. The inspector gained feedback from parents and took into account their views. The inspector talked to children, staff and the directors and had a meeting with the directors. The inspector carried out a joint observation with the manager. The inspector looked at required documentation, including evidence of the suitability of staff who work at the pre-school.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Staff display a good understanding about safeguarding and their roles in keeping children safe. Comprehensive procedures, such as risk assessments and checks, are in place, including when children go on outings. Staff know about the work of the Local Safeguarding Children Board and how to identify and report any concerns about children's welfare. Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. Thoughtful reflection and the ability to thoroughly evaluate support staff and the directors in knowing the setting well. They readily identify limitations and opportunities, such as the careful consideration that they put into children's outdoor learning. Staff develop close links with local schools, helping to support children when they move on in their learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children engage in role-play activities. They tend to dolls, feeding them with a bottle and wrapping them up in a blanket as they tuck them into the cot. Children have long and highly imaginative conversations using play mobile phones. They use language as they play to negotiate and express their ideas. Staff provide diverse outdoor activities. Children go on regular energetic walks in the countryside and woods. They have a weekly tennis lesson where they develop their physical skills and coordination. Children learn about different cultures, such as having food tasting sessions. Staff know what children need to learn next. They track children's progress from their starting points and provide targeted support when needed.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children sit together to eat their snack. They follow good hygiene practices and become independent in meeting their own personal needs. Children show a keen sense of humour. They teasingly wait for staff to help them to make creatures from dough, before taking great delight in rapidly squashing the creation. Shrieking with delight, they enjoy these playful interactions. The recent introduction of an allotment for children to use increases their awareness of how foods grow. In turn, this helps them to develop a good understanding about healthy foods. Child play together, taking turns and behaving well. Young children settle quickly into the setting and become part of the group.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are confident and self-assured. All children show a developing sense of awareness of fairness and express this as they start to resolve minor disputes among themselves. They have definite ideas and are purposeful as they play. Children are beginning to recognise colours and identify numbers in their everyday play. They make good progress and are able to communicate and express themselves well. This prepares them well for their future learning.
