This provision is good
The childminder's interactions with children are extremely positive. These help to promote their self-esteem and confidence. Children form very strong bonds with the childminder and show that they feel safe and secure. Parents talk about how well their children settle into the childminder's care. They speak about how happy their children are to spend time with her. Parents say that the childminder is very helpful and keeps them updated about what their children do when they are with her. Children show that they are developing good concentration skills as they take part in activities. For example, they spend periods of time working out how to push construction bricks together. Children's mathematical learning is promoted well. They are encouraged to count and use number language. Children are able to successfully follow complex instructions, such as threading beads in sequence and starting with blue.

It is not yet outstanding because:
Partnerships with other providers are not yet highly effective to share ongoing information and maintain continuity in children's learning. Professional development plans are not precisely targeted on raising the quality of teaching to an even higher level.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living or working in the household. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents through the written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has completed training that helps her to protect the well-being of children effectively. She understands the signs of abuse and is aware of what to do if she has any concerns about a child. The childminder minimises identified risks to children. For example, she locks the front door to prevent children from leaving unnoticed and provides close supervision. Children's arrival and departure times are recorded by the childminder, ensuring that she is aware of who is in the setting at any given time. The childminder ensures that all required documentation is in place and maintained to support the smooth and safe running of her service. Parents are made aware of the childminder's policies and procedures. The childminder listens to the views and opinions of parents and children. She uses this important information to help her make decisions about future improvements.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder makes regular observations of the children she cares for. Children show a keen interest in the toys and activities available to them. They demonstrate good hand-to- eye coordination and physical skills as they carefully build a tower. The childminder introduces descriptive words, such as 'taller' as the tower grows. Children thoroughly enjoy craft activities and remain engaged in this learning for long periods of time. They become very excited when they are encouraged to dip their hand into paint and make a print on paper. They enjoy getting messy as they make their creations. The childminder teaches children about repeating patterns. They are fascinated when they open their folded painting to discover it looks just like a butterfly.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children's behaviour is good. The childminder provides them with clear explanations that help to develop their understanding. Older children show kindness as they share toys and help to support younger children's learning. They relish praise and show great pride in their achievements. Children learn about healthy lifestyles. They achieve these through regular routines and daily outdoor play opportunities in the childminder's garden or at local parks. The childminder encourages children to take measured risks, such as learning how to use large play equipment. Children are animated as they describe how it feels to come down a slide.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress. They are enthusiastic and interested in learning through play. Children's physical development is progressing well. They show good levels of control as they purposefully use a paintbrush. Children develop high levels of self-esteem and confidence. They skilfully engage others in conversations and talk about their family members. Children are learning new skills that help to prepare them well for their next stage of development and eventual move to school. They are able to carry out small tasks, such as helping the childminder to tidy away toys.
