This provision is good
Since her last inspection, the childminder has successfully improved the quality of her provision. She has obtained a valid first-aid qualification and she has improved her knowledge and understanding of how children learn. The childminder uses relevant guidance to support her in tracking children's progress to help her identify their stages of development and areas that may need support. The childminder supports children's emotional well-being effectively. For example, she gives children lots of praise and encouragement for their achievements and children respond well to the attention they receive. The childminder works closely with parents. She regularly engages with them about their children and she provides them with information to enable them to support further their children's learning at home. The childminder demonstrates a positive attitude towards her professional development. She attends various workshops and these help increase her knowledge
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not engage as effectively as she could with other settings that children attend to promote a more cohesive approach to meeting children's individual learning needs. Children do not have many opportunities to develop their early reading skills and explore books.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of the childminder's interactions as she engaged in activities with the children. The inspector spoke to the childminder about her understanding of the requirements and about the impact the improvements have had on her provision. The inspector spoke to a parent and engaged with the children during the inspection. The inspector sampled a range of the childminder's documentation. The inspector observed all areas of the home.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure awareness of potential indicators that she might see that would cause her to have concerns about a child and knows the procedures for making a referral. She understands the differing needs of the children she has on roll and she takes appropriate action in her home to reduce any potential hazards. The childminder effectively evaluates her practice to identify areas of strength and aspects of her setting that she wants to strengthen. She makes good use of training opportunities to improve her setting. For example, she has used the knowledge she gained at a planning workshop to improve the learning environment to provide suitable learning experiences for children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder generally supports and interacts with children well as they engage in activities together. She uses singing, counting and recites familiar nursery rhymes to support babies' communication and language development, and they are beginning to copy and repeat after her. Babies enjoy exploring textures, such as with paints. When older children express an interest in writing, the childminder supports this well. For example, she sounds out letters as children attempt to write words and the names of people. The childminder regularly observes children as they play and she uses the information she gathers to plan for their interests and next stages of development.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder reflects children's backgrounds well within her setting. For example, she shares the same home language as some of the children and she talks with them in their mother tongue as they engage in activities. She provides a varied menu, which includes a variety of cultural dishes, and she plans activities for children to support them in gaining an awareness of their different cultural backgrounds. This contributes towards children developing a positive sense of themselves and helps them develop a mutual respect for other people. The childminder plans regular opportunities for children to engage in physical play and enjoy outdoor activities. For example, she takes them on trips to the park and playgroups, where they explore and use larger more robust equipment.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are happy and active learners. They make good progress in their learning and are achieving the expected milestones for their age. They are developing fundamental skills to support their future development. Babies show an increasing interest in exploring and discovering new things. They enjoy exploring with building blocks, interactive toys and musical instruments. Older children enjoy leading their own play and they demonstrate good communication skills and an increasing interest in early literacy skills.
