This provision is good
The very caring and nurturing childminder enthusiastically celebrates children's achievements. She encourages children to proudly display their creative models. The childminder takes photographs of children's work and shares these with parents. This helps to successfully promote children's self-esteem. The childminder works very closely with her co-childminder. She has considered ways to further enhance the overall quality of the provision, including developing the outdoor area. The childminder gathers the views of children and parents in helping to address any areas of development. Children behave very well. They are fully involved in helping to identify rules and boundaries for the setting and are involved in risk assessments during outings. This helps children to develop an understanding of how to keep themselves safe. Children enjoy creating their own art and craft creations. They use collage pieces and

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not introduce further opportunities for children to develop their exploratory skills, particularly during adult-initiated activities. The childminder has not implemented further ways to fully involve children in developing an understanding of their environment and the world around them.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed an evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her co-childminder have embedded detailed policies that outline the steps they would follow in the event of a concern about the welfare of a child. The childminder ensures that visitors are aware of the policy regarding the safe use of mobile telephones and cameras within the setting. She has effective systems in place that help to keep children safe. For example, the childminder has implemented policies to outline safe practices when recording and monitoring medication given to children. Furthermore, she promptly responds to accidents and incidents. Parents are fully involved in all aspects of the provision that involves their children. They contribute to their children's learning records and inform the childminder about important events and observations of their children's learning at home. This helps to provide a continued approach to children's learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder completes observations and assessments of children's learning and reviews their progress. She provides a good balance of adult-initiated and child-initiated activities and plans effectively for what children need to learn next. The childminder is an excellent role model. She plays alongside children and shows an interest in what they are doing. The childminder encourages children to talk about their activity and allows them to manage their own challenges during play. The childminder skilfully offers support when necessary, promoting children's self-confidence. The childminder receives professional subscriptions and attends regular training to help maintain her knowledge and skills of how children learn. She uses this information to enhance her teaching skills.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder promotes good hygiene practices and encourages children to develop their independence. Children participate in small tasks appropriate to their age and stage of development. Furthermore, they help to tidy away after activities and manage their self-care needs well. Children are provided with healthy choices during mealtimes and regularly take part in physical activities. The childminder takes children on regular outings, including to the local park and field where they take part in ball games.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress and are motivated to learn. They have good opportunities to develop their literacy skills. Children link sounds to letters and confidently name the letters of the alphabet. Furthermore, they identify words beginning with the same letter. Children listen attentively to their favourite stories and talk about the key features in the storybook, developing their early reading skills. Children are equipped with the key skills needed for future learning and their eventual move to school.
