This provision is good
The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn. She uses this knowledge well to teach and engage children in enjoyable activities. As a result, children make good progress in their learning and development. The childminder has built strong bonds with the children in her care and knows them extremely well. As a result, children are happy and settled in a caring environment. Partnership with parents is good. They benefit from regular feedback and make comments in their children's diaries. The childminder shares ideas to encourage parents to be involved in their children's learning and care. The childminder has recently attended training courses and received support from the local authority. This has resulted in a careful and reflective approach to her work. She has made several changes so that children benefit from her continued professional development. The childminder places a strong focus on encouraging children's early reading skills. As

Inspection activities
The inspector looked at a range of documents, including children's progress files, assessment documents, policies and procedures, and training records. The inspector evaluated an activity with the childminder. The inspector read comments from parents and took account of their views. The inspector observed activities in the childminder's home, and spoke to the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder is qualified and shows a commitment to accessing further training to continue to build on her knowledge and skills. This contributes to her good knowledge of how to support young children's learning. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is clear on the procedures to follow if she has safeguarding concerns about a child. The childminder knows how to identify any potential hazards and takes steps to minimise any risks. This helps to keep children safe in the home and on outings. The childminder gathers views from parents and other professionals to continuously support her development.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The quality of teaching is good. The childminder knows the children in her care very well and uses this knowledge to plan stimulating activities. However, at times, the childminder does not allow children to fully express their creative thoughts and ideas during activities. Despite this, younger children thoroughly enjoyed sharing the Three Little Pigs story as they use number names and make animal noises. This kind of activity promotes their early mathematical development and a love of sharing stories at an early age. Parents speak highly of the service the childminder provides and the progress their children are making in her care.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder gathers detailed information about children from parents before they start. This helps her to understand what children already know, can do and enjoy. This helps support transitions from home as children settle quickly and develop strong attachments. Children are given hugs, kisses and praise which helps to promote their emotional well-being. Children are encouraged to help with age-appropriate tasks, such as helping to prepare activities and tidy away resources. This supports children's early independence skills and assists in preparing them for school. Children's physical development is well-supported. Children have access to an outdoor area and benefit from regular visits to local craft centres and swimming baths. However, children have fewer opportunities to learn more about different faiths, cultures and religions.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in relation to their starting points. They are working comfortably within the range that is typical for their age. Older children develop skills in early literacy that prepare them well for later learning. For example, they work on letter recognition and attempt to write some letters from their names. Younger children develop their listening and concentration skills. They listen to instructions given by the childminder and are aware of the routines of the day. The childminder has good links with the local authority and knows how to access additional support if needed to further improve outcomes for all children.
