This provision is good
Children make good progress from their starting points. The childminder observes and assesses children's development. She plans well for their next stages in learning effectively. Children have strong attachments with the childminder and her assistants. They are happy and settle quickly when parents leave. Young children feel safe and secure in the childminder and assistant's company. Children are motivated and eager to learn. They enjoy the range of activities provided. The childminder offers a warm, homely environment. She knows the children well. There are good partnerships with parents and carers. The childminder and her assistants share information with parents daily. Parents have regular opportunities to share what they know about their child. The childminder offers support for parents, so they can successfully build on their child's learning at home.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder and her assistants miss opportunities to help children recognise hazards as they play. For example, to help them learn about keeping the floor space clear from tripping hazards. The childminder's links with other early years settings that children attend are in the early stages. She has not made the best of opportunities to gather information from these settings to promote continuity in children's learning.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

support children to recognise and minimise risks as they play, so they learn how to keep the environment safe strengthen links with other early years settings that children attend to enable all adults to work together to provide consistency for children's learning.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities, and the childminder's interactions with the children. The inspector spoke to the childminder, her assistants, and the children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector checked and discussed evidence of the suitability of all adults living or working on the premises, and checked the qualifications of the childminder. The inspector took into account the views of parents and carers from the information gathered by the childminder. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including children's records, safeguarding procedures and the childminder's other written policies and procedures.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistants have a good understanding of safeguarding procedures. They are clear about the indicators that may alert them to any concerns about a child. They are confident about the procedures to follow should they have any child protection concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder and her assistants are clear about the importance of monitoring children's non-attendance. The childminder monitors her assistant's practice, so they are clear about the procedures and practices to meet children's individual needs consistently. The childminder evaluates her practice effectively, for example, she works closely with other professionals to help her develop her practice. The childminder recognises the importance of keeping her knowledge and training updated, recent training has helped her with developing consistent approaches towards helping children manage their behaviour.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder and her assistants have a good understanding about how children learn. They motivate and encourage children as they take part in activities. For example, when young children take part in a craft activity, they independently use the glue stick, with plenty of encouragement from the childminder. Children have good opportunities to develop their language skills, they chat happily with the childminder and her assistants as they play. The adults ask questions to help the children think and solve problems.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are well behaved. The childminder and her assistants successfully support children in their understanding about taking turns, sharing and being kind to others. They are good role models and consistent in their approach. Children are aware of the behavioural expectations. The childminder supports children to become independent and take on challenges, for instance, she encourages the youngest children to feed themselves. Children learn good personal hygiene practices, such as washing hands before meals and after using the toilet. They talk about healthy eating confidently as they eat fruit at snack times. The childminder and her assistants use positive language and plenty of praise and encouragement that supports children's growing self-esteem.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop the skills that support them with their future learning and the eventual move on to school. Children are confident and develop good independence skills, as they make choices about what they would like to do next. Children gain good mathematical awareness. They count as they build towers from bricks. They talk about how high, how many they have, and can they build it taller. Children enjoy taking part in craft activities that support their physical skills.
