This provision is good
The childminder demonstrates high levels of warmth and care with all children. This helps to foster strong emotional attachments and enables children to settle quickly. The childminder is a good role model for children and provides them with a positive atmosphere of mutual trust and respect. The childminder effectively includes parents and their children in the self-evaluation of her provision. This helps to identify targets for continuous improvement so that the provision benefits all children who attend. The childminder promotes healthy lifestyles. For example, children benefit from active play and tackle physical challenges. The childminder also promotes healthy eating well. The childminder works closely with parents to meet all children's care needs. Parents speak very highly of the childminder, stating that she goes above and beyond in caring for their children. Children learn spontaneously through play and become engrossed in activities of their

choice. They make good progress from their starting points. Children are well prepared for their next stage of learning and moving on to school.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not regularly and precisely track children's progress to sharpen her planning and raise children's achievements even further. The childminder has not sharply focused her professional development to enhance the quality of teaching to the highest level.

refine the assessment of children's progress so that it gives a more accurate picture of the achievements they make, and use this information to plan more precisely for their next steps in learning focus professional development more sharply on raising practice to the highest level.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback during the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder regularly updates her child protection knowledge. She knows what to do and who to contact in the event of any concerns about a child in her care. Children's safety is the childminder's priority. She has a good understanding of how to minimise risks to children. The childminder checks all indoor and outdoor areas used by the children. She supervises children closely throughout the day. The childminder teaches children about their personal safety, particularly during walks in the local community. This helps to keep children safe.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a clear understanding of all areas of learning and how young children learn. She provides a range of practical and creative activities that stimulates children's curiosity. For example, babies are fascinated with a car that moves on its own when the driver is pressed down. The childminder models how it works and they try and copy what she has done. They enjoy knocking down the tower of bricks that the childminder builds for them. She moves the tower away from them so they have to stretch to knock it down, providing appropriate challenge. The childminder provides a running commentary of what she is doing so the babies hear language. Children develop good skills in manipulating and exploring objects and materials, such as textured balls. The older children are very caring towards the younger ones. The childminder exchanges information with parents and uses this well to promote children's learning at home and in the setting.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Since the last inspection, the childminder has improved the provision for children as they now have their own playroom. This is a welcoming and vibrant environment where children make independent choices of what they want to do. The childminder has strong relationships with the children, who demonstrate that they feel safe and secure in the setting. The childminder promotes positive behaviour effectively. She promotes positive values, including good manners. Regular and meaningful praise ensures children feel good about themselves and gain confidence. Children develop an understanding of diversity through resources and activities that teach them about people in the wider world. The childminder promotes children's good health. For babies, she encourages parents to provide all food for their first year. Older children talk about foods that are good for them.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their initial starting points. They are sociable, inquisitive and resilient. Babies develop a firm sense of belonging as they are hugged and cuddled by the childminder. They demonstrate good social skills as the babies interact with older children and adults. Babies' independence is encouraged as they feed themselves finger food.
