Summary of outcome
We visited the childminder on 7 September 2016 and found that the childminder has updated her safeguarding policy and procedure in line with the guidance of the Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB). We found however, that the childminder did not have a clear understanding of her updated safeguarding policy. She was not able to demonstrate through discussion that she had a clear understanding of the correct process to follow if she had concerns about a child’s welfare, nor if an allegation was made against her. She could not demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding matters and best practice to ensure that she can take prompt action to safeguard children. The inspector found that the childminder was maintaining a clear and accurate record of children’s attendance on a daily basis. She was able to evidence that she has current paediatric first aid training. She has taken some steps to improve communication with parents and other settings

The inspector found that this was suitable for the after-school children she currently has on role. Ongoing compliance with this will be monitored at the next inspection.
