opportunities to ensure her knowledge is up to date. For example, she has completed recent training on supporting older children's speech, which has improved outcomes for children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder has not considered all options for linking with other settings that children attend, to support consistency of care and learning even further. At times, the childminder misses opportunities to support older children's counting skills, to fully enhance their understanding of key mathematical concepts.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the children's learning and the childminder's teaching during a range of activities. The inspector spoke with children and the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at a sample of documentation, including the childminder's policies and the children's learning records. The inspector checked evidence relating to the childminder's suitability to work with children, and reviewed parents' written feedback made available during the inspection. The inspector spoke with a parent to gain their views of the setting.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a confident knowledge of how to respond effectively to any concerns regarding children's welfare and understands how to keep children safe. The childminder is reflective and monitors the quality of her provision accurately in collaboration with her co-childminder. She has high aspirations for continuous improvement and offers a good quality of care and learning for children who attend. Partnerships with parents are strong and the childminder seeks their feedback regularly to involve them fully in the setting. Parents speak favourable of the service they receive. The childminder has recently implemented a new system for monitoring children's progress over time. She is quickly developing her understanding of how to use this this to ensure children continue to achieve their full potential.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder plans a variety of opportunities for learning inside and outside, which supports children to stay active and engaged in their learning. The childminder helps children develop an interest in the world around them. For example, they talk about animals from different countries, while reading familiar books and tales. The childminder helps children to build on their physical coordination and children enjoy a range of activities which develops their small-muscle skills. For example, children work together to assemble a train track, carefully arranging the pieces so they connect. The childminder encourages children's creativity and imagination, as they immerse themselves in role play to retell their experiences. The childminder reflects on children's daily learning well.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder creates a safe and well-organised environment where children can freely choose what they wish to do. She carries out regular risk assessment to minimise any potential hazards. Children behave well and the childminder supports them to understand the importance of respecting one another. She helps children to lead a healthy lifestyle and offers a broad range of nutritious meals and snacks. Children join in happily with routines of the day and show a mature attitude, for example, helping to tidy away toys after they finish playing. Children begin to learn about those who are similar and those who are different to themselves. For example, the childminder offers a wide range of resources that reflects and celebrates their diverse local community.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are confident and curious to learn. They develop their language skills quickly and communicate well with peers and adults. Children take part in pretend play and collaborate well together on tasks. For example, they pretend to make cakes, adding different ingredients. Older children begin to show early literacy skills and make connections between sounds and letters. They develop strong independence skills and learn to carry out self-care routines with very minimal support. Children make good progress and are well prepared for their move to school or for future learning.
