This provision is good
The childminder demonstrates a commitment to her ongoing professional development and the professional development of her assistants. The childminder has good relationships with parents. There is a shared approach to children's development and they make good progress across all areas of learning. The children have developed strong relationships with the childminder and her assistants. Children settle quickly, feel secure and are happy in her home. Assessment of children's learning is thorough. The childminder has a good knowledge of what children can do and the next stage in their learning. She identifies gaps in learning and supports the children to catch up quickly.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder and her assistants do not always give the children enough time to answer their questions during learning activities. The childminder does not share enough information about children's learning with all the other settings that they attend.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in the setting. The inspector looked at samples of children's records and other documentation, including policies and procedures and the assistants' files. The inspector spoke to the childminder, assistants and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector took account of parents' views through written feedback provided on the day.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder demonstrates a strong desire to improve. The views of the children, parents and assistants all form an integral part of the evaluation process. Recent evaluation has seen her enhance the learning environment. For example, the childminder now has a designated room just for the children that enables better access to resources. The childminder follows robust recruitment and vetting procedures to ensure her assistants are suitable to work with children. The childminder provides ongoing support to the assistants. For example, she holds regular supervision meetings to enhance their practice even further. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistants have a good knowledge of child protection and what they should do if they had concerns about a child in their care.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides a rich learning environment, indoors and outdoors. Children also benefit from walks to the local nature park and music groups to enhance their learning. Methods of teaching are good, overall. The childminder and her assistants adapt their teaching to meet the differing ages and abilities of the children. Activities are carefully planned to cover all areas of learning and meet the learning needs of all the children. For example, while making play dough the babies explore textures and develop the muscles in their fingers while older children develop their counting skills. Activities follow a theme and are linked to festivals children celebrate and their current interests. Children are engaged and motivated to learn.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are happy and well cared for by the childminder and her assistants. They know the children well and are responsive to all their needs. Children enjoy the company of the childminder and her assistants and babies snuggle in close for a story. The childminder and her assistants are good role models for the children. Expectations for behaviour are explained and the children behave well. Children show care for one another. For example, they get each other's shoes for outdoor play and are praised for doing so. Children are helped to learn social skills through activities. For example, they learn to share equipment and take turns during a cooking activity. The childminder provides healthy meals for the children, helping them to make healthy choices in the future.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress from their starting points, including children who speak English as an additional language. Children leave the setting well prepared for the next stage in their learning. Children become independent learners. For example, older children learn skills for the future, such as cutting up their own fruit for snack. Babies enhance their communication skills as they listen to a story with peers.
