This provision is good
The childminder has worked hard to raise the quality of her practice since her last inspection. For example, after attending safeguarding training she is able to identify wider child protection issues and is knowledgeable about the local reporting procedures. The childminder knows children well. She makes careful observations of them and plans well for their ongoing learning and development. Children make good progress. The childminder provides a warm and welcoming environment, where children are settled and happy. Children build strong attachments to the childminder and to each other. The childminder adapts activities well for all children. She demonstrates to older children where to place the matching shaped blocks into a shape sorter and shows younger children how to fit them in. The childminder works closely with parents. She takes time to give parents regular updates on their children's progress.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not gather detailed information from parents about what children can do before they start to help plan more effectively for their progress. The childminder does not make full use of effective strategies to support children's communication and language development.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector talked to the childminder and children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. She reviewed an activity with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector discussed the process for self-evaluation with the childminder. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder demonstrates a good understanding of how to keep children safe and is able to identify safeguarding and welfare concerns. The childminder assesses risks to children's safety indoors and outdoors to help keep children safe as they play. The childminder consistently evaluates what she does and invites feedback from parents to help her reflect on the quality of her provision. The childminder uses a support network of other local childminders effectively. They share ideas and good practice to help influence continual improvements. The childminder understands the importance of working in partnership with other professionals to help meet children's individual needs.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses her knowledge and skills well to support children's learning. She is encouraging and plays alongside children to guide and enhance their learning. This particularly helps younger children to concentrate and become more involved in activities. Children engage in imaginative play based on first-hand experiences. For example, they play with role-play resources and confidently pretend to comb and dry the doll's hair using a pretend hairdryer. The childminder supports children's fine-motor skills and developing pincer grip well, to promote early writing skills. For example, children enjoy threading various beads and use a range of drawing materials, including crayons, pencils and paint markers. Children excitedly look at books with the childminder, babbling and laughing about the pictures in the book.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is a good role model. She reinforces good manners. Children behave very well. The childminder promotes children's physical development well; for example, as they use the slide. Children demonstrate their skills as they climb the steps, with the support of the childminder. They manoeuvre themselves to a sitting position and giggle with joy as they come down the other side. The childminder extends this play by introducing a large box of small balls, which the children enjoy throwing, kicking and rolling to her. The childminder encourages children to enjoy a healthy lifestyle and to follow sensible hygiene routines. She follows children's sleep routines, helping to ensure young children are well rested and refreshed to enjoy the day's activities.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress from their starting points. They settle well and are happy. Children have formed secure emotional bonds with the childminder. They confidently choose resources, initiate their own play, and play alongside and with each other well. Children develop the skills in readiness for school and their future learning.
