This provision is good
The childminder prioritises her own professional development. For example, she attends training and links with other early years professionals to help her to make continuous improvements to her teaching and provision. Children show great pride in their achievements. During singing sessions children show good memory skills and burst with delight at the start of every song. Children's general communication skills are developing well and they enjoy meaningful conversations. The childminder supports children's emotional well-being effectively. She is kind and caring and children build positive, trusting relationships with her and each other. Partnerships with parents are strong. For instance, the childminder ensures that parents' views are taken into account to ensure continuity in care and learning for each child. The childminder supports children's awareness of managing their own behaviour. Children are encouraged to consider the needs of others, share resources, and to take

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently build on what children need to learn next to help them to achieve as much as possible in their learning. The childminder does not consistently give children who prefer to explore and play outdoors the opportunity to do so.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection and considered written feedback from parents. The inspector held discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder understands what would constitute a safeguarding concern and the crucial importance of reporting any concerns she may have. The childminder keeps parents well informed about the type of activities children undertake and any care issues. She regularly checks the environment for possible risks and takes appropriate steps to minimise any potential hazards. The childminder has a strong desire to continuously improve and has started to use self- evaluation to reflect on her practice.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder gets fully involved in children's play and encourages them to 'have a go' and have confidence in their abilities. The childminder promotes children's language development using nursery rhymes and songs. Children follow instructions and develop good listening skills. The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn. She weaves mathematical language into their play well. For example, she encourages children to use their fingers as they count together during story time. The childminder copies the vocal sounds of babies and sings familiar rhymes. This inspires their curiosity.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder has good relationships with parents and works with them to ensure children's emotional and practical needs are well supported. The childminder ensures children develop a good understanding of a healthy diet. She provides a range of nutritious snacks and water is available throughout the day. Children are encouraged to be physically active through daily walks to the local park. The childminder is a positive role model. She encourages children to build confidence in their own decisions. For example, she gives children a choice with every new activity and provides them with positive praise and encouragement. Children develop close bonds with the childminder and they confidently approach her for affection and cuddles.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make choices about the toys they play with and enjoy emptying toy boxes and exploring the things they find. They are developing into enthusiastic learners who are keen to join in with activities. Children are making expected progress in all areas of learning and are working comfortably within the range of development typical for their age. Babies are motivated to explore and join in with play. Older children develop good independence. The childminder promotes children's small-muscle skills well during a gluing activity. This supports children's small-muscle development, which is needed for pencil control at their next stage of learning.
